System Pics 2018

Welcome to System Pics 2018.
To start things off, here are a couple of pictures of my setup. There have been some big changes over the past year; a 300 and a 555PS, and some extra shelves to accommodate them.

Apart from the acoustics, I am very happy with the result:
That’s quite a major caveat you have there.

I would have thought it quite likely that Revolino moved his listening chair for the photo taking. In any event, what does it matter?
Looks great, but remembering the listening triangle surely your sitting position is too far away.
I'm assuming it's where you took the first photo from.

You can improve the acoustics I think quite dramatically by just looking on your picture it looks like you have a not ideal acoustic setup. Get acoustic help, with an acceptable investment you should be able to dramatically improve things.
New Sopras sounding as good as they look.
Beautiful picture indeed! I would be curious to know whether you are subject to room resonance with your speakers being placed so close to walls and corners.
Chag -
I normally think the Sopras look hideous, but in that setting they look very nice. Very stylish. I’m surprised they work well so close to the wall, but it’s brilliant if they do.
Im going to let the gear all bed in before I start looking at there final positions as they are very heavy but all seems ok with Resonance so far. Like all these things there will have to be some compromise with how far the other half lets me pull them out! after all it was hard enough getting her to agree to them in the first place. :-)
I love how people graciously put photos of their pride and joy systems up and all people do is point out the “faults” with their set-up. Still another few weeks and someone will prematurely put up a “System Pics 2019” thread.
Amazing!

Nicely done Aaron - the Sopras look good in your room. Just sneak them out bit by bit and the other half will never notice...

PS - Your seat and lamp remind me of the old Maxell tape advert
Nick, the system pics thread treads a fine line. As the thread starter for more years than I care to remember, my ‘vision’ is for a thread that has pictures and no discussion. But that’s never going to happen. I think it’s fine to make helpful suggestions and general comments, so long as they are positive, but not to trigger in depth discussion. That’s for a separate thread. The focus must always be on the pictures. And it’s always nice to get ‘that looks good’ responses from people, and hopefully well set up systems give people a few ideas for their own setups.
As for the 2019 thread, I tend to start it a few days before Christmas, about 21 December, to give the opportunity for few festive snaps, which are always nice. If anyone thinks they can do it better, they are very welcome to take over the reins.
Totally agree HH, it wasn’t aimed at you, I love seeing other people’s set-ups, we are a niche forum and I think we all could be more supportive of each other as my friends, colleagues and the general public think we are mad spending as much time/money on our hobby.
Keep the pictures coming and let’s support each other.

Very tasteful, those are imposing speakers indeed but just look part of the decor. Difficult to tell on my laptop but is it a "mink" sort of colour theme you've adopted? That seat looks extremely comfy I must say! Where's your rack, off to the right the other side of the sofa maybe?

I see you live in Tod. My nephew lives there and we popped in to see him and the boys the week before last. Had a nice meal in the Golden Lion. It’s a really nice town, though a bit chilly for us nampsy pampsy southerners.

Hailing originally from Rochdale I have clear memories of Todmorden as a real working mill town. I was quite staggered when I visited it last year for the first time in over 40 years. Gentrification doesn’t come close! I’m sure it’s preferable to industrial decay and unemployment, but I do wonder where all the real people went. It’s very cutesy, but somehow unreal.
Really? It’s pretty gritty compared o Hendon Bridge just down the road.

I suspect you meant Hebden Bridge. Predictive text I suspect. ☺

Those Sopra's look great in your room. I had these on loan and they didn't look good in our room according to my wife. The future certainly wasn't Orange
Ultimately the sound wasn't for me but glad that you like them.
That’s why I went for black! I can see orange working in a nice trendy London apartment but not my country cottage where in a 40 by 30 foot room they work very well. I know they’re polarising, just like my 252/Supercap DR but wouldn’t it be a dull old word if we all liked the same things?

As a son of Irish parents, just add some white and you have the tricolour, what better colour combination? I’ve not liked the look of Sopras when I’ve seen them, but those black ones look fantastic in Aaron’s room, the whole room is very classily balanced and stylish. I think maybe I just don’t like the colour choices on the ones I’ve seen.

If those are jet blacks you can just about get away with it but in orange you definitely need shades!
