Flashing Nac 272

Posted by: sjostrom on 21 December 2017

I just received the years last upgrade, a Nac 272 bought via eBay. Unfortunately the Naim logo and display is flashing every other second. Its not loosing power, I can continue going through the menus when the display is on - its however not usable since I cant set it up. I have managed to restore factory settings, bit the problem persist. I have also tried turning it off for some time and removing and re-adding the link plug as well.

Any suggestions or is it ”just” to locate the general agent in Sweden and send it to Naim for repairs? Not the best timing either, it will be a christmas holiday without stereo.

The Logo should flash when mute is engaged.  You can un-mute from the handset but you can also mute/un-mute by touching the Naim logo and it is possible that this may be faulty.

But I don't think whether or not it's muted would affect setting it up?

Anyway I vaguely remember that you can disable mute via the 272 logo in the 272 setup (spanner key on the remote).

Hi, thank you for your replies! But the display is also flashing along with the logo, is that also part of the mute functionality?

Anyhow, I'll go directly to test this!

No it's not. I'm afraid it probably is a case of needing a repair.

SJostrom, I've flagged this up for Phil so hopefully he'll see it and may have some ideas before he leaves for Christmas break tomorrow.

Unforunately muting/un-muting didnt help.

Great, thank you Richard!

Sjostrom, any way you can plug it in to your computer (usb) and router (network cable) and try to reinstall the current software from naim website? Can’t harm it if it isn’t usable anyway, and may work is software related.

for the record the logo doesn’t flash when muted, it goes off if this option is selected in the main menu when muted.

Ahh, then Ill the this tomorrow as well Nitrous, as you say, it cant do any harm now. ????????

Sid, you’ll need to ask your dealer or ask Naim directly. They won’t see or answer on here.

Hi Sid,

it has arrived at the factory, so hopefully it will back home in Sweden within a few weeks. I longing for it and music now!

Hi Sjostrom, yes it will be good to get it back asap. I have not heard from the dealer but it only lasted 3 weeks before it packed up. Im hoping for better Naim experience going forward.
