Uniti Atom / Star / Nova Owners

Posted by: DiscoVolante on 22 December 2017

Hi,

Just wondered what people are using alongside their Atom, Star or Nova? Despite the continued teething troubles with my Core and the well-documented ripping and app issues I love the simplicity of the system. I purchased an Atom & Core and a pair of Spendor A6Rs with Tellurium Q Black II and was more than happy having demoed offerings from PMC and Neat.  I have just upgraded to D7s after a rush of blood to the head and can't believe how well the Atom handles them. Not only that the whole system looks beautiful which keeps the wife happy!

Atom driving D7s well - that's impressive.

I'm the other way round:  272/555DR + 300DR driving Spendor SP2s  (but they don't look anywhere near as neat or fancy as the D7s!).

My Nova is very happily driving N-Sats underpinned by a Velodyne DD12 sub. As well as streaming and internet radio it is doing wonders with the signal from my LP12/Ittok/Troika.

I am getting more enjoyment from this system than when I had CDS2/52/135s - impossible to say if the actual sound is better in hifi terms due to the time gap but I'm certainly more pleased with the system as it is.

I originally bought my Nova to go with my Core, I auditioned a number of speakers and PMC 25.26 were the ones that gave me the sound I wanted.

I have a Uniti Star power Dynaudio Focus 260. I find this combo works very well together.

My Nova drives the Totem Element Fire. Prior to that, it was an SU.

Nova with Neat Iota Alphas.   Very happy.

My Nova is driving n-Sats and the sound is great with Tidal CD streaming and with CDs ripped to Flac and stored on a nas drive. I also use a 250DR - a bit of overkill but it sounds good and the long term plan is to connect the 250DR to the eventual 272 replacement and use the Nova bare in a second system. Next move is some speakers with a little more bass. The nSats are great with acoustic jazz, folk and world music but less so with rock and electric blues

Overall I am very pleased with the Nova and the only drawback perhaps that it definitely shows up the limitations of my Muso QB

Hi Tony

What do you think about the Nova compare to the SU ?

I have the SU so far and still don't know if I should add a NAP250 (not DR, too expensive) or just change and go for a Nova.

Atom and Spendor A4’s here, having impure thoughts about a Nova though which in turn would inevitably lead to D7’s ! Listening now to Tord Gustavsen wondering why I’d bother upgrading at all!

Nova driving PMC 25.23s here, sounds excellent in a smallish room.

Nova with naca5 and Audio Physic Avanti

Nova>old 250>old Epos ES 14's until I manage to get my old SBLs home.  Swapping out A5 to Audioquest cable and back - horses for courses in many ways genre wise.

Bang for buck a modest 'audiophile' ethernet cable makes a massive difference for <1% cost of rest of system....

Idk if this will help you or not.... I switched from the Uniti2 to the Star. I’d say bass control is better on the Star, I feel that the bass tones and timber’s are more accurate. The sound is not as lean as it was with the U2, giving the overall sound signature a warmer, fuller & more complete sound. I feel like it’s connectivity and total features plus sound improvements make the change very very worth it.
