nac282

Anybody like or own the nac 282 and why and what is it best partner with.
Wow, there's a question...
Plenty of NAC282 owners on here - some current, some who have moved on and maybe up the ladder to a NAC252 or 552 (or even Statement), and others who have the NAC282 on their upgrade road map for sometime in the future. There have been many threads on the NAC282 over the years - and much hot debate over the relative merits vis a vis the next step up - the NAC252. Have you taken a look at some of them?
My own view is that the NAC282 is a sweet spot in the pre-amp range where you get a big slice of what the best can do, but at a much more attainable price. It's very flexible with regard to power supply options - power amp supply, Hicap, 2 x Hicap, or Supercap - but does warrant a top quality source. It will only expose weaknesses in a poorer source. Good luck.
The 282 is a great preamp that has an exhuberent character... it goes well with all amps, but arguably prefers the weight of the regulated amps with most speakers.. the 250 and higher.
if I am to be critical, matching sources can be more sensitive... I feel it’s exhuberence can render some sources which are themselves exhuberent too hot... the CDX2 is an example and as such I would say the CDX2 and 282 is not always the best match unless you have laid back speakers...
Thanks I do have the cdx2 which is an amazing player as you said the 282 can be used with supercap hicap/caps.
Yes I do own the cdx2 which I love as speaker go I have pmc twenty5 23 and will be moving too fact 8.
Ok you will need to demo carefully if you can...
The cdx2 is a great player I have not heard with fact 8 but fact 8 are a warmer speaker not very loud.
I own 282, and love it
Easily an end-game preamp for me (and I've heard NAC 252 and 552 a lot) but I never really come home and feel disappointed with my 282, even though those preamps are considerably better (in the case of a 552, very obviously so)
but still - go for it.
It sounds great with a 200 and even better with a 250, and apparently even better with a 300
I use a Hicap DR, maybe supercap DR is better, but at some point you have to start spending money on a source worthy of a 282.
and that's what I did - I used a Chord Hugo and then Chord Dave.
I'm luvvin my 282 with the CDX2.2, 250DR and Neats.
As with Naim there are many power supply options and I use a separate dac for personal preference.
282 is also superb with analogue source. Eg a top flight tt.

Thanks I think the 282 is more versatile than 202 have not heard 252.
I've had a 282 and think it the best VFM pre-amp in Naim's range. It is flexible in terms of the PSUs it can take. It gives a taste of the high-end. And it has excitement.
I have owned a 282 for several years and used it with a number of power amps (200, 250.2, 250DR), power supplies (HiCap non-DR, SuperCapDR) and sources (NDX, NDS). I think this shows the 282's versatility but for me the sweet spot is 282/NDX/SuperCapDR/250DR, although I never used it with a HiCapDR which I suspect might be the best VFM power supply for the 282.
You can't really go wrong with the 282 other than be careful with a hot source like the CDX2 as others have mentioned but equally others use the 282 with the CDX2 very successfully. As always take the time to demo first, but it is a superb pre and on occasion I miss its exuberance.
I have a 282, having moved up from a 202. It has a more open sound, with better dynamics than the 202. I had a 200 when I got the 282 and the difference to the 202 was immediately obvious, especially in the midrange . I have moved to a pre DR 250.2 and that has provided added grunt in the bass. The 282 is a real toe tapper, the rhythm and timing is pretty infectious.
Had mine for many a year now - current configuration all in my profile - superb amp. Incidentally I used it for a quite a while with a CDX2/XPS2 it was fine.

Yes I did demo with cdx2 sounded superb I also heard the cds3 which was super aswell.
My avourite combination is: 282 / HiCap DR / NAP 250 DR with SuperLumina full loom. Fed by a good quality source.
It’s lively, bouncy and fun to listen to.
I went from 202/200 to 282/200 fed by a recently serviced Chrome Bumper Hicap and had that amp for over a year sounded great with my LP12. I would caution do not expect the fireworks OMG! WOW! differences that some have described because they can be more subtle especially with the 200.
My own 282 improved when I changed PSU's and will no doubt improve again when I finally get that SC but the real changes came when I upgraded power amps 250 and then 300 both non DR.
So yes it is a great amp I may one day once I have it Supercaped trade it for a 252 but if my ability to earn ceased I would be happy to keep it always so get it and enjoy but as I said just be careful to manage your expectations from here on up unless of course your going all the way!
Need I say more!
Naim debut it's Reference CDP with it's middle of the road Pre.
CD555>282>Snaxo>3 x 250>DBLs
Wow!
Allante93!
Money money money...
I'd consider a 282 except the local dealer will never have one for me to demo. Oh well.
Thank I do have one on order and I will be powering with hicap dr until I can get a supercap I did hear one and on the day it sounded warmer than 252 the 282 had supercap but every box cost thousands as you know.

Just try to ask him - you may be surprised. My dealer contacted a distributor, who obliged with a demo version - took 5 days to organise.
I ended up buying 282 - something I would have not done without a home demo.
agree with Bob - took the same route 202/200 added HCDR to 202 and then moved to 282 which I love.
owned 202, 282, 252 - and for me the 282 fits into the rest of my system really well - great balanced - range & focus source is either LP12 or NDX
plan to look at SC for 282 but after add 555 to NDX, then I am pretty much there have a 300 non DR
