Hard Day's Night

Watched it on BBC telly earlier today, for the first time in 53 years.

Firstly, it's an amazing piece of cinema. At 13 years old, I was unable to appreciate this fact.

Secondly, how different the world was in 1964. It stirred a great deal of emotion, looking back on how my life was then, compared to now. It, and the world, looks so simple from 2017. Was it, or was it just me? There were tears as I watched at times...

I was born in '63 so cant comment on that particular film, but I know how you feel. I find myself scanning the backgrounds of Carry On films, On The Buses etc for cars, shops, fashions, gardens, shop windows, everything. And then I'll try and find a Google Streetview of filming locations. Some have hardly changed.

Lime Street Station is nearly unrecognisable now to the scenes at the beginning of the film.

I’m sure one of the railway stations in the film is  in Minehead Somerset ..... which is just down the road from where I live, very little change whatsoever

You’re not wrong there.

I doubt any of today’s prominent entertainers would get away with say “Look at the talent, shall we pull them” on spotting a couple of school girls.

The section with Ringo and the young lad on the Thames riverbank is my favourite. Obviously knowing that one of the 'schoolgirls' was Patti Boyd 6 years before 'Layla' is weird... They should have got Lester back to direct MMT.
