Salt Lane

One for the (other) "old buqqers" on the forum.........
In a couple of weeks I will be attending an AGM for one of my other hobbies at a venue in Salt Lane, so I've been trying to work out "where it all started". Going by an old photo on www.naimaudio.com/our-story and those fine Goggle Maps people, I think it's now the "Harbour Restaurant" (voted Best Fish and Chips in Wiltshire ).
Can anyone confirm or otherwise?

Yes, you are spot-on.
I might have a photo that I took a few months back. I'll see if I can find it !
Yes, that's the one.
I can't put my finger on the photo I took a few months ago. However, if you go into Google Earth, zoom into Salisbury then Salt Lane and then enter Street View, you should be able to "drive" along Salt Lane until you are just outside the Harbour Fish & Chip shop.
You can look in through the front door with the Restaurant on the left and the Takeaway on the right. I noted the it was voted best Fish & Chip shop 20 years ago in 1998, so it might no longer be worthy of that accolade !
IIRC, Julian used to do his demos in the "Restaurant" side of the shop, whist the "Takeaway" side lead of to the rear of the shop where the manufacturing took place.
Thanks, I thought that might be the place. Both the old photo and Goggle Maps clearly show the distinctive moulding around the door and windows.
There’s nowt like a bit o’ history

Wow thanks I never knew that, thanks for sharing. Amazing what a man with vision can achieve.
Be nice to see some more of the old photos and stories.
Here's a photo I found online of how it currently/recently looks..
Before it became Naim, the premises were part of a small chain of HiFi shops blessed with the name of Fleetone. I managed that branch and met Julian whilst he was manufacturing at his house close by. When Fleetone closed Naim took over the premises. I still have the NAC112/NAP110 (subsequently upgraded to a 140) bought from Julian all those years ago circa 1974 and the 140 is still a key part of my system, along with my wife who I met in Salisbury at much the same time! Sadly, from my infrequent return visits, Salisbury doesn't seem to have prospered as much as Naim over the years.
