NDX error

Posted by: Lennardo on 08 January 2018

Good morning

Inexplicably my NDX has 'error use naim app' then it skips tracks rather than playing.

There's been no network changes - I've run command arp -a and the NDX has an IP address assigned. It's hardwired.

Many resets of all components has not improved things - does anyone please have any ideas?

Many thanks

Can you please list the following:

* Which UPnP server software are you using

* Where do you store your music and in what format?

* Basic network configuration

* IP assignment: fixed or dynamic and which component handles that

I had the same problem a while back when I was 'experimenting' with my new broadband hub.  Because I was in 'experimenting' mode I solved it quickly by going back to defaults & did not determine what the problem was but suspect an IP or DNS address error.       In my case I reverted everything back to all DHCP,   then powered cycled the whole system & restarted each component sequentially  (router, NAS, NDX, iPad)

So all traffic between the PC and the NDX is through the switch, and does not go down the Ethernet over mains.

That doesn't necessarily mean that the NDX is immune from the mush your EOM is putting out. This may not be relevant to your current issue, but I would consider eliminating the EOM from your setup, at least temporarily, to see if it affects sound quality.

Oops - sorry - I only picked up the question and ;thought it was a general enquiry.  Forget my message.

Beachcomber's setup was similar to mine so I did not intervene. In fact it was so close I contacted my pet hacker to ascertain they weren't lurking on my network, ensuring I stay within my Grime allowance. They have a new puppy so they assured me they're too busy.

I've reset everything on the network - it's all DHCP. The NDX shows with an IP address assigned, but with the error statement on the front panel - no change basically. The fault came from nowhere as there's been no changes to the setup for some time.

If it were me, having tried all the obvious network things as above, I would do a factory reset on the NDX.

That is a good suggestion - but it didn't work. I've finally identified that the Tidal password was updated to include special characters. For whatever reason Naim does not support those. An update to an alphanumeric phrase and we're back in business.......

Thanks everyone for their help.

The next firmware upgrade for NDX will fix that Tidal password non-alpha character issue I believe.

A bit late for several hours of power-cycling and head scratching......
