NDX app query

Posted by: ray sheldon on 09 January 2018

Evening all,

I've had my NDX almost a year and a couple of queries regarding the app....

1. I'm sure when streaming from my US the app used to have a symbol that looked like an open book and when pressed would  display additional info about whatever ripped CD I was listening to.  That seems to have vanished?

2. The app itself is quite unreliable, often when you tap the back key it doesn't go back to previous screen I.e. from chosen album to all albums and I have to close the app and relaunch. Seems more of an issue using the Samsung tablet compared to Samsung phone ?

Common to everyone I wonder?

Hi Ray

did you once use an Apple device by any chance? The Android app unfortunately doesn't give the Rovi album info, this is iOS only.

There is another thread running at the moment about  Android issues, so there are some glitches.

Funny you should say that your SAmsung tablet is more than an issue compared to your phone - the forum member [@mention:1566878604017764] finds the opposite in his case, though I don't think his devices are Samsung. Im sure there will be an update or two coming our way soon, hopefully anyway.

The book/Rovi symbol appears when you first select an album, and then if you go to the “big pictures” Now Playing screen if you tap the three dots. They have moved it about.

And yes, the point to which you return after playing an album is maddeningly random.

Both above points relate to the IOS version.

Both,

Thanks. Looks like I've confused myself a little over time and forgot what does what....

Yes, I have an iPad. This was very effective using the nserve when I used to own a HDX.

I still use nserve on the iPad (occasionally) to create play lists on my now US. (Shame you can't install nserve on android ).

I bought the Samsung tablet because the 2012 iPad was lagging and crashing when browsing the internet and the smaller Samsung tablet is easier to hold when using the app etc.

At the time I didn't realise you couldn't install nserve on android. My son has the iPad and I can just use that for nserve duties should I need to.

Before buying the Samsung I was using the naim app on the iPad, that must be where I've seen the book/ravi symbol (just installed on iPad and it's there) and got myself confused thinking it was/used to be on the Samsung tablet !

And after all that... It seems the streamer app works better on the iPad !!

Naim....have you spending 10's of thousands on their kit but can't bloody make an app that works proper on android and nserve that only works on IOS.

Cheers,

Ray

Hi - I use a Lenovo android tablet which works fine with my Nova and before that with my Superuniti. This with the Naim app not Nserve. I did run Nstream (the original version) on an Apple iPod Touch but junked that when I couldn't update iOs to run a newer version. Rovi has never been available for Android users (no idea why) but my Nova is now a Roon end point and so is way better anyway.

Hope this helps.

Ray, I was using Android devices but due to problems with the Android app running my Core and NDX switched to IOS, sold both my Samsung Tablet and S7 phone both replaced with Apple devices so much better in my opinion.
