Naim Digital to Analogue Converter - Design, Engineering and Technology

In spite of being a nDAC user since about 4 years, it was only today that I read this document from the beginning to the end. What a clarity and what a pleasure! It was less than ten years ago but, regrettably, it sounds like a very long time: if only today's products could convey a small fraction of that spirit! Thanks to Steve Sells and Hjalmar Nilsson!

Was the most ground breaking product for Naim at the time.

from an Audio company that first released a CD player some score years and then some from the firsts.

from an audio company that first started releasing upgraded cables some decades after others had introduced alternatives.

makes sense that Salisbury cathedrals spire is mostly made from wood,  whilst everyone else at the time was using buttressed metallic and other exotic means.    Still standing though.

The NDS white paper is also a great write-up. It describes latest Naim streamer DAC architecture. It is unfortunately not available on the website anymore.

What I find fascinating in the report is the language: it is clear and precise. It makes crucial technical differences easily understandable. It contains none of the silly phrases that we inevitably get flooded with when we visit the web pages of no matter from which manufacturer. It is a refreshing lecture from which one can learn some interesting facts, notions and concepts.

Why so? Perhaps it can be made available again?

Yes I would be interested to read this having just taken ownership of an NDX. Not the same I know but would be interesting.

There is an NDX one too

If you want the NDS one, then google 'NDS white paper' and you will find (can't post the link as it's not on the naim site)
