Quick question for Classic Owners.

Hi all

Just a quick couple of questions for you classic owners.

1. Coming from a Qute originally then a Nova, both units I would leave the power on but put on Standby when not in use. Is there not a standby option with the Supernait 2 and NDX?

2. Is it ok temporarily for me to put the NDX directly on top of the supernait till I create an additional shelf?

3. As my TV speakers are usless, I use the optical connection on the NDX to use the system speakers. The TV is set to PCM so it is doing the decoding. Is it possible for the NDX to process the signal instead?

Thanks all

1. No, there isn’t. Just leave it switched on.

2. It’s not ideal, but as a temporary measure it’s fine. Put pieces of paper under the NDX’s feet or you will get rings on the Supernait that will never come off. With equipment of this quality it’s well worth getting a proper hifi rack - it makes a big difference.

3. No idea.

HH has pretty much answered your question, so I won't repeat his advice. Naim have always recommended that you leave the system switched on for best performance, the exception being that power outages, especially thunderstorms, may cause damage, so you should switch off to allow for this. The new boxes will have to comply with new energy efficiency legislation, which is why they have a standby mode.

The optical connection you are using is the only option for a digital connection from a TV, so you will need leave the TV set to PCM.

Re 3: NDX cannot decode Dolby or similar.

So PCM is the way to go.
