Core backup to Synology problem

Hi,

I’ve just joined the forum after purchasing a Uniti Core and Atom and wonder if somebody can help me with a backup issue.

I’ve ripped my CD collection to the Core and am now trying to backup the music store to a Synology DS215j NAS.

On the NAS, I’ve set the Workgroup name to NAIM, enabled Guest user access, created a shared folder for the Core backups and configured Read/Write access on that folder for the Guest account.

Using the Naim app, I’ve then tried configuring a new backup. The shared folder I created on the NAS is visible but when I select it as the backup target, it reports the ‘drive is read only and cannot be used as a store’.

I’ve checked and the Guest account does have read/write access. Can anybody suggest what I might be doing wrong?

I never managed to work out why the Core thought my NAS shared folder was read only, but I did find that performing a backup to a USB-connected hard disk appears to have eliminated the problem.

The Naim app now identifies the [same] shared folder on my Synology DS215j as a valid backup location and I've been able to successfully backup my music store. If anybody else encounters the same issue, it may be worth trying this as a workaround.
