Atom continually dropping multiroom

Posted by: tony69 on 28 January 2018

Hi.  I have an Atom, 2x Qb and a Mu-So and the Atom is completely unreliable in multiroom a) when any other speaker is that master the Atom keeps dropping the sound then picking it up again - completely randomly.  b) as per the Naim website, I make the Atom the master, no other speakers show in the multiroom window.   Wireless or wired network, makes no difference...  Any ideas?  It’s really annoying....

There is new firmware being tested for everything - the Unitis, mu-sos and the black boxes. I can say no more though.

Don't take this personally HH but this secret one trouser leg up and specific handshake stuff for firmware release is a shower. We all know Naim has new products in the pipeline, ergonomics to match the new Uniti's including that new look an branding. They'll be all sorts in the horizon.

Where I'm coming from is that this secretive BS for existing users should be stopped. These products need to be updated and quickly. Too many issues are still outstanding for users. Naim aren't Apple or Microsoft and should tell their users what is being worked on in what release and set clear exceptions. As for the "black boxes"; I just don't give a toss, Naim should get their house in order, NPI is part of every vendor product lifecycle process.

I know you are being helpful - but it's frustrating for many I'm sure.

The multiroom feature and issues related to it are my sole gripe and complex systems often have long standing bugs after release - if you go on smart TVs, most of us have them but use of  the smart features is limited from what I can tell, I can tell first hand that Sony and LG have bugs in theirs.  My frustration is how Naim multiroom is sold as a feature, demoed as a slick feature and even shown in the help files as a successfully working feature, which it isn’t.  And 6 months to solve a significantly marketed feature, with no update, is not very good.  Leaving that to one side, I love my Naim Mu-So array and Atom.

re product pipeline, I would be very keen to hear about what’s in that.  I do think that Naim are missing a portable offering in their lineup and have said as much to them.  Anybody got an cats to release from bags?????

The cogs are now moving, but I think you should ask Naim yourself if you want any more info, as beta testers are under an NDA.

Aaah, so it’s an electromechanical problem then if it involves cogs????

I’m not sure if it’s already been identified, but I also have issues with the Mu-so - dropping on multi room (using ND5xs on same wired network)

Thought I should flag this up, just in case the developers thought it may only be confined to the Atom etc.

Hope this helps ????
