Uniti Atom: Poor control of Internet radio

Posted by: SimonPeterArnold on 28 January 2018

Why on earth does the Atom not have the ability to control internet radio properly? The current implementation is not very flexible. As soon as you switch input to internet radio it starts to play the last channel you selected wether you want to listen to it or not. You also can't stop to resume playback either  whilst looking for another.

Whilst in some instances this is not an issue as you could just change the station from your favourites. But if I want to use the BBC on-demand services the current way it works is just annoying as I have to listen to something I don't want to whilst I navigate the radio section to find the documentary or programme I want to listen to. Also the on-demand have a pause button but it just stops and cant be resumed.

Reveretrd to Chromecasting from BBCiPlayer radio app instead.

Please sort this out Naim in a firmware update.

I agree that the iRadio input has some annoying features, particularly the removal of the Stop stream button the okd streamers have. Sometimes I’ve resorted to navigating to another input, playing something, then stopping it, just to dtop iRadio. Jumping straight to the last used station when you go to the iRadio input is also irritating. Both of these issues have been raised before, so hopefully improvements will be made.

I tend to use BBC iPlayer too, as it has a better functionality to my mind, and some material is not available on the Naim app.

I actually like the way it works - if listening to the previous choice whilst navigating bothers you then just press mute on the remote. As it is I listen to Radio Paradise 90% of the time and when I just press the power button on the remote or switch to radio from another input it just comes on - perfect.

Leave it alone Naim!
