A full box sized, half 555 ps for those of us with 272 or CDX2 for example that would only use only output!! A 525ps maybe??

A better streamer,NDS is not  good enough, their cd’s were great,so I am expecting to a streamer to be good in terms of sound as cds1or cds3 I had before

Nothing!!! Having recently retired I can't afford any changes or upgrades.

Love this type of topics ...

Floating Snaxo has officially been ruled out, if I remember the sticky on intrest from current Snaxo owners correct. speakers yes if you can convert Focal to Naim on the front then you can expect a lot of new speakers.

A two box 555 level integrated amp - Pre and power in one box, PSU in the other.

Posted on: 31 January 2018 by antony d

i think some focus on classic is overdue , DR amps are superb - but my NDX needs to be kept upto date and with MQA files, I can play HSD but not sure i like the format and sound?  but only have 2 albums so far

i am  not sure i have the budget for NDS or possibly better,  might we see the 372?

one thing is for sure NAIM need to get to where Linn are now with DSM Klimax

Posted on: 31 January 2018 by FangfossFlyer

Some sort of mains conditioner/regulator, whatever, to provide an optimised power source.

Posted on: 31 January 2018 by jsaudio

Agree with antony ,would love to see a pre-amp/streamer unit as good as the Linn DSM Klimax perhaps with an external PS as other top Naim products and to therefore keep the Naim philosophy on external PS

No no, just one single box ... no additional power supply upgrade - keep things simple

Posted on: 31 January 2018 by nigelb

Bearing in mind some of us would like to reduce our box count but understand the Naim design DNA of separating noisy power supplies, how about a 555 level integrated with the pre amp and power amp head unit in one box and a dual power supply for the pre and power amps in another box.

I know this might have been suggested already by James, but I was not sure if he was suggesting a single or double power supply unit. For a 555 level integrated you would need a DR power supply for the pre and a separate power supply for the power amp head unit, wouldn't you?

The news that they still have control on their products, that they balance orders with production time and delivery capability, that they can still cope with their owners head up, that they haven't forgotten their heritage and that no unnecessary path is taken to maintain worldwide expansion, if they can.

The news that their products are still built carefully in Salisbury, not because I care for British Pride but because I hate when people is made redundant in favour of 'rationalization', which actually reads 'spend less, earn more'. Because I think that it's a sort of moral debt to also think of those who have built all the gear I have owned. Because I also hate Capitalism and the colossal hoax it is and the lie it tells the world. Because their products are the goods, not the men who make them.

But I'd be content to know that in a few years Naim is still in existence and is not a brand and a logo bought by some group of speculators and applied on the plastic of some table radio you buy off the shelf of a supermarket. Because in the filth that this world is, I'd love that something I love lasts longer than its killers.

Retired over a decade ago, same boat!

I love my Naim System, but if it was one thing they could focus on, The Dreaded HUM!

On a scale from 1 - 10, with a 10 being System off.

My Linn LK 280, s Aktiv Briks were ~ 8.9

Consistently!

My passive Tri Amped Briks:

At best ~ 7.9

At worst~ 4.9 = here the hum 20 feet away!

7.9 is bearable, but 4.9, I think about cashing in

The whole System!

Or taking Foot Tappers advice.

But that route ain't cheap!

His thread was Down Home Dreaded Blues, I think.

Enjoy your Music, The Why!

Just a simple two boxer, Nigel. One box for Amp and one for PSU - we don't do lots of boxes here

Naim integrated amps always sound rather special.

I love Capitalism and choose freely to buy the stuff I love.

I too was proposing a two-boxer but one of the boxes containing two power supplies. One DR power supply for the pre and one DR power supply for the power amp. Our motivations are the same (low box count). I was proposing the two power supplies (in one box) in an effort to align with the design principles Naim seem to be wedded to (i.e separating power supplies from the delicate ends of the pre and power amps) and to maintain the superior SQ offered by a DR powerr supply for the pre and a DR power supply for the power amp, this possibly at the risk of disappearing up my own jaxy.

It’s a nice idea, but two power supplies won’t fit in one box if they are to be the standard of a 555PS for example.

Hence I will not be applying for a job in the Naim product design team. But we can dream of our ideal product, can't we?

What about a dual power supply box the size of the 500 power amp head unit? I will admit you might need a forklift truck to get it into your lounge.

OK, I'll get me coat.

Perhaps they'll switch to wall-warts and save another box. Seems to have worked for Linn!

As also suggested in the other thread, a SuperCore à la Melco and a 500 Series suspended DAC if not a NDS555, please, please the good fairies of Salisbury.

Chag -

A singular item that will need at least 6 power supplies to fulfill its potential.

Some people said there would never be a successor to the Unitiserve - maybe there will be an HDX Mk2?

Posted on: 31 January 2018 by nigelb

I think if Naim had found/developed SMPSs that adequately replaced or improved upon the bulky and expensive linear power supplies we all have to endure, we would have seen them by now. SMPSs are cheaper, smaller and lighter and can be incorporated into the component boxes they power (a la Linn), but clearly are inferior in Naim's opinion (I assume).

Nice thought though.

New look and updated nDAC so it will work with Linn Urika2. BTW with my current system, I don’t need it.
