What would you wish for naim came up with in the next years..

This is what I would think of...
Reference series floaty snaxo
DBLs 21st century edition
SuperARO
Fraim compatible statement preamp
Cheers, F
DL2 with SL2 suspended tweeter, better midrange isolation like aluminium tube around BMR from ovator and gasketless bass box with ATC 15 inch or two ovator 800 drivers. Alloy cabinets like Magico??.Maybe involve Focal so it actually happens but needs naim engineers for voicing. Must also be both active and pasdive.Styling to match SL2.
I know, dream on.

That would be a Penguin beyond Emperor.
(Palaeeudyptes klekowskii for the knowledgeable)
A difficult look to pull off.
It would be hard to pull off, hence the mention of 2 ovator 800 bass drivers to narrow the front of the cabinet. But thinking more about this dreamy stuff, maybe an FL2 electrostatic speaker would be even more amazing. It could be a statement speaker that Focal would not want to build as their main interest is in moving coil loudspeakers.
I heard today that naim has actually supplied an Australian dealer / customer with a statement amplifier with 4 mono S1 power amps to biamp some American Sound Lab electrostatics!
Could naim actually be considering to build a successor to the FL1

Mr Noble Scotch,
Capitalism has nothing to do with being able to buy the stuff you love; that is either luck or plain work with some savings. If you really love it, it means you have no idea of how the world is being systematically and patiently destroyed by money these last years. My best wishes to your children (if you have or will have) and to theirs.

(P.S. Who wants a Nait these days anyhow)
An announcement of an across the board price reduction on every item that has not been updated in the last 3 years ..as development costs have been recovered long ago...

Quite possibly for projects that come to market.
Some never do yet, inexplicably, still cost Naim a lot of money.

Examples, Adam, Examples is what my hungry mind needs to be satisfied.
With the impending post-Brexit split with Focal - a new range of true Naim speakers ????????
nigelb posted:I think if Naim had found/developed SMPSs that adequately replaced or improved upon the bulky and expensive linear power supplies we all have to endure, we would have seen them by now. SMPSs are cheaper, smaller and lighter and can be incorporated into the component boxes they power (a la Linn), but clearly are inferior in Naim's opinion (I assume).
Nice thought though.
I've been trying to remember when I (briefly) talked to Roy George about SMPSs - probably around 1981 or 1982. He was interested in them, though dubious. I'm sure he and others have looked long and hard at them, but for whatever reason, so far, rejected them. Given the high frequency stuff going on in them I can imagine it might be hard to stop any of that affecting things, but I don't know. Other than that I can't see what is wrong with them. Very efficient, lots of power available, potentially stable voltage, particularly for high power requirements. But you get EMI and RF. And generally linear supplies can provide better regulation and better ripple rejection at low power levels. So I can understand why linear is better than SMPS except in terms of costs (bigger and more expensive components, albeit a simpler design, with linear) for HiFi.
Also a linear ps will react more quickly to load requirements than an SMPS - though whether that is a real problem I don't know. And a linear is more able to stand up to power line spikes, e.g. from lightning strikes.
SMPSs can provide higher currents.
Linear PSs can be more complex - and have a higher component count - than the power amplifier they are supplying.
I suppose you could do some sort of hybrid - SMPS to get the voltage to, say 50 or 60 volts, then linear to bring that down to 48 volts (or whatever the rail voltage is). Also, if the power draw is sufficiently low then an SMPS can start to misbehave, switching at an inappropriate (lower) frequency than normal.
Linear power supplies are less noise than SMPSs - and the downside is they are heavy, less efficient and get hotter. But we don't care about things like that if the sound resulting from the amplifiers is better, do we?
the smps will totally take over shortly, life style products require them . technically the design is better the outdate ones. also class D amps will be the choice too, far removed from my class A sugden, that will stay on my rack. ive listened to the cyrus amp and its impressive for the cost . 2018 will be the year for class d/smps
Not sure about Class-D, but SMPS's why not, efficiency, weight & when correctly designed are silent in every respect, including 50Hz hummzzzz. Linn can get it right, Cyrus are now moving over to it, Naim might hang on to the bitter end, but I wouldn't be at all surprised when they start to appear in future products, I see Naim as a forward thinking innovative company..
I think a kickass replacement for NDS ......also I think even better super DR regulators - need to be researched - hopefully feeding through the range again .... raising the bar across the range. All new equipment should have a super efficient standby mode - to maintain the (switched on all the time) sound quality. A super headline headphone amp would be a no brainer. A focal speaker that has specifically been developed with naim amps (this may already be the case) ... it would be nice if these were badged as a naim series.....so a complete system could be sold by the dealers. Finally an upgrade maybe to the 552 .... using volume control technology from S1 .... phew thats it from me.
Anything that keeps them profitable. Anything that perpetuates the ethos that our stuff is worth servicing. So, more of a cultural thing.
How about Naim design their loudspeaker, but is manufactured by Focal. This would keep factory space in Salisbury free for the electronics being manufactured. One of the factors in the demise of Naim speakers.
Again, a half box FM tuner that would clearly beat a NAT-01.

That's a lovely bit of kit.
It's the Nativ Vita. Roon as the interface, touch screen, direct connection to DAC, Bluetooth to speakers, up to 4TB of storage (HD or SSD, or none if you have a NAS), iOS and Android app... to name but a few features. $1600 (not sure if US or CDN) for the streamer without storage.

Note: this is the Indigogo promotional video. Funding is now complete.
Did you compare Nativ Vita against other streamer or server?
Afraid not. Just discovered this device.
Interesting new device :-)
It appears to use Roon only as an endpoint and needs a Roon server elsewhere. So, presumably, you can't store your music library on it's internal storage. Also it's not clear if Roon is just an option and there is other native software. I can't find much information on it's interface if it's not Roon only. The marketing material isn't very clear when it's talking about their own software or Roon.
It's also interesting to see they have a DAC and a linear PSU with outputs for both the streamer and the DAC. Naim style! They seem reasonably priced but there are no reviews anywhere so SQ is an unknown at the moment. Nice looking bit of kit though!
A Naim designed DR upgrade for of us Olive people - Olive DR upgrades

I'd just like Naim to not lose sight of the music. Roon is lovely, but my NDX does not need it if its replacement has the teething issues and delayed promises of the new Uniti range. And please Naim, please don't announce new stuff before you have finalised it and got it to a final release ready state.
