Nait XS with Supercap2 is excellent

I tried Supercap2 with Nait XS and the result was very good. I made this combination for fun but it became serious(ly nice).

I can recommend this combination.

Good. Now you have an excellent, two-box £6000 integrated. The fact that you are using only half SC and only half XS, hence half of the £6000, doesn't bother you at all? Has it any sense to spend £6000 for a £3000 (two-boxes) integrated?

None of my business, of course.

This was a temporary trial. Cost is 2600 € second hand. I have done different crazy trials and this was absolutely the best sounding combination.

It means that half of 9-year old Supercap2 is very good and Nait XS is very good with it. I recommend this for those make their decisions based on what they hear.

Well I did this for fun once and didn’t like the effect. I also have a HiCap dr on my stageline and tried that on the XS as well, don’t like that I either. I however think the Flatcap XS is excellent and does all the right things.

Tuomo,

I have been asked to cancel a post I had written. I did it only because the thing would have gone on until the offended member would have had my post canceled by the moderator, and I suffer when I see grownups choosing denial over discussion.

Now I'll proceed to cancel by myself the other post before the other offended member asks (for the second time) one moderator to erase it, without even questioning me before. Then I think I'll take a long vacation from virtuality. Enjoy the combo. You'll learn by yourself.

Friendly

And another forum member called the bare XS 'the best amp by Naim'. Information needs some organizing.

It is a known fact that the SuperCap is a very good and quite versatile PSU. It will take any box to a different league but, as it has been mentioned, at what cost? I once hooked my SCDR to my NAT05 XS as I was waiting for my 252 to arrive: Exquisite. Did I keep running that configuration? No, I “only” have a HCDR on the NAT and it is still a marvel.

Chag, can you confirm that your NAT05 XS is better with SCDR compared to HCDR and what are the differences you heard?

Lower noise floor, more musicality, less fatiguing, blacks are blacker, more PRaT, better separation of instruments, the essence of the performance much more in evidence.

And the room is a bit hotter in winter.

When my lounge was going through a period of  looking like a Naim dealers stock room, I tried a Supercap on a Nait XS. It sounded quite impressive but lost a lot of what makes the little Nait such a nice amplifier. I preferred the Nait bare or with the Flatcap XS.
