, they always sound natural and never have that oppressive bludgeoning bass I so dislike.

Johnny, my vote would be that are barking up the right tree with Fact 8. Bobby’s comment above sums it up for me. Listen to just about anything else against the Fact range and it can sound like the other Speaker has a Dolby Switch engaged - and that comment would also include my own speakers. A colouration that can be warm and beguiling, but in truth just gets in the way of you hearing the authentic sound of the original recording.  Fact 8’s are clear, lightning fast and can regularly convince you that you’re listening to a real performance rather than a reproduction of it. Usual caveats about making sure they work in your system and room of course.

To your original question; I heard them with 272/250DR. Sounded superb.

My room is not wide enough for bigger drivers and cabinet I already had twenty5 24 in the room and they were terrible the speaker could not open up breath if you like they have 6.5 driver the 23 has 5.5 much better the fact have 5.5 plus db switch at rear so could be better than 23.

Using mine on end of nap 200/272/555. I’m sure a 250 or 300 may be even better, but certainly as it is no slouch at the moment. As always, speakers, taste, room acoustics mean that speaker recommends are fairly pointless until you hear them in your room system.

once made a purchase after shop demo, took the actual pair of speakers home that I had listened to and liked in the shop, all equipment was as my set up. But once home it turned out to be a terrible choice. Back to shop more listening.............

Agree, the home demo.

for the OP- when I decided on the Fact 3 (Fact 8 was too big for my listening area) , I contacted PMC direct and they arranged a demo pair to be made available to the local dealer.

Whilst the minimum width of the speaker is limited by the size of the bass unit, the sound in the room is not directly related to the driver's size. It is easier to design a smaller driver to be 'fast', and easier to get bass extension and higher maximum output from a larger one, which are factors the manufacturer balances. Of course, the Fact 8 has two bass drivers the same size as that of the 25-23, so has a total bass driver cone area equivalent to maybe a 7.5" or 8" speaker - about the same as in the 25-24.

I gather you don't like the Twenty5 24 in your room, so unless bass extension is lacking it would indeed seem a little unlikely that you'd get on with the 26, though it improves the midrange with a separate mid driver. However whether liking the 23 and not the 24 means you'd like the Fact 8 is another matter, though undoubtedly it is a step up from the 25-23.

You refer to the size of your room in a negative way, which I think is the small room (?) - have you tried the 25-23s in the bigger room?

Good advice I will try the 25/23 in a larger room.

I have 25.23 in a largish room (8x7m) and they are almost too much for it at times. I had budgeted for 25.26 but could not try at home and could go from 20.23 to 25.23 at less than a grand. My dealer correctly pointed out that just because you can afford something doesn't mean you should and that benefitting from a larger speaker requires the space for it to shine otherwise it could be an expensive downgrade. They still have the same tweeters though, and the 25.24 down have the simpler 2-way crossover.

Fact and 25.26 (along with non PMC options) are all considerations for a future home with a giant room. But I am glad I went small for now considering the results.
