NDS ground switch
Posted by: pz on 03 February 2018
I have an NDS and CD5XS as well. Both unit are connected to my 282 preamp but CD5XS almost permanently switched off. How NDS' ground switch should be set ? Chassis or floating ? Thx in advance.
Assuming your CD5 XS is digged-out to NDS, it doesn’t provide grounding. Hence the need to ground the NDS as the only grounding point of your system. Otherwise go to Floating if you already have a grounding point. In any case you should try both options and decide which gives better SQ.

If both units are connected to the preamp via phono or DIN, then the NDS should be set to ‘floating’ ground. If you remove the CD player connection to the preamp, then the NDS should go to ‘chassis’ ground.
Just have checked connections. My CD5XS is coupled directly to NDS by using naim DC1 S/PDIF cable! CD player is used as a transport but it is very rarely switched on at all. Then in this situ' how that ground switch of NDS should be set ?
Thx
Chassis.
Is the CD5XS not to you're likings?
I like it very much but streaming is much more 'comfortable' for me . No need to change CDs etc....
if the CD5XS is connected to the same powersocket as you're other Naim gear and analoque connected to the 282, the NDS should be set to "floating".
