Uniti Star speakers cable suggestions

Posted by: Emme on 04 February 2018

Hi everyone,

I recently move to a Uniti Star and I’m searching for a good speakers cable for my Devone Mojo speakers.

Unfortunately I tried a NAC A5 but I have found it too stiff for my configuration, and I cannot use long cables....

So, Naim users, what are your suggestions for a good match? Tellurium, Nordost, Chord, Qed.....? My budget is more or less around the cost of the NAC A5, for a cable 2 meters long.

Thank you!

The optimum length of non-Naim cable might be the same as for NACA5, or it might be longer. It is the effect of speaker cable on the power amp that determines this.

The stiffness can be awkward to handle, but warming it with a hairdryer, you can bend it into the shape you want.

I’m not aware of a regular speaker cable that has higher inductance than NACA5 so any cable of 2m length is not going to be ideaI.  However it’s my understanding that the new intergrated & new platform amps are not so fussy about the cable inductance load,  so maybe you need to see what looks best for you,  but I would really try to go for longer than 2m whatever you decide.   I use Chord Odyssey,  it’s very bendy & really good is that it stays fixed in any bend you set it too.  TQ is also bendy but only along it’s thin sides, the same for Nordost.

I had Totem Tress at one point with my Uniti 2 before I bought NACA5 and it worked just fine. I actually sold it to a friend that had a U2 and now has a Star. He still uses the Tress with the Star. For the record I really couldn't tell a difference between the 2. Possibly more fuller bass from the NACA5 but I wouldn't testify in court that was true.
