Please could I check that is is correct that the superuniti has a 3.5mm optical input on the front, next to the headphone socket, before I go to the expense of getting cables to connect my MacBook Air to it. Thanks

Yes - It's a mini toslink type.

It’s a dual purpose socket that can take either an analogue or digital (mini-Toslink) cable. As opposed to the rear inputs, which are standard Toslink.

Does the MacBook Air have a TOSLink output?  I know many Apple Laptops do, but I seem to remember the MacBook Air doesn’t.

Mine is a 2013 one and there is no TOSLink out.

The MacBook Air doesn’t have a TOSLink, I think I can go usb to toslink, I am trying to find something suitable for this.

Why not use UPnP?

I want to stean radio paradise in flac quality, I understand that it’s not a conventional stream which is why naim isn’t supporting it, could this work with UPnP?

No, for that you would need Toslink. Airport Express/Airplay would be another option, with Toslink from AE to SU.
