Reviews

Hi

Does anyone know of useful reviews for the NAC282 - perhaps comparing it to the 202 etc, or to non-Naim gear. I have found a few for integrated or cheaper boxes but nothing for separates. I am considering upgrading from 202 to 282.?

Many thanks

I guess the best review is ideally done by yourself (i.e. book a demo with a Naim dealer), or maybe employ this forum's search function. Personally, I don't think that hifi magazine reviews are terribly useful... In the Forum, it seems the 282 is considered, by many, Naim's best value for money pre-amp -- they often call it the "sweet spot" in Naim's range.

Tim

I can offer you a personal opinion of a NAIM owner of 17 years , and more over had the 202 before upgraded to 282 which I am pleased to say is still in my system today

my system then was LP12,NDX,202,200 - 202 has good dynamic range with a good level of detail throughout the musical range - I added a HCDR to the 202 which made the 202 work even better with the 200 - giving more focus and bass line

so very happy with the 202, I then wanted to upgrade a major box in my system either PSU, AMP or PRE and spent a day with my dealer changing boxes etc.

The upgrade I choice was the 282 - it added depth detail and moreover focus over the 202, bass lines were deeper, vocals clearer and brought you more into the music

To be fair it was with HCDR on the 282 as well as NAPSC

if you can demo with dealer, what AMP and source are you using?

Hi Thimothy; can you read German?

Check the March 2003 and November 2015 issues of Stereoplay. They are available on the website of music-line, Naim Audio distributor in Germany.
