It'll be a 252 next you know
Your 282 will love you for it.

Please post details as interested in how sounds with those s20s
Excellent move. Quite the game changer in my opinion and will take time to get used to. Enjoy!

Is it going on the Superline or 282?
It’s going on the 282 to maximise the benefit.
Congratulations on your purchase, very interested to know the scale of difference compared to the HC?
keep us posted

Not necessarily. Plenty of us 282/SCDR users with no plans for a 252.
And it can be argued that natural upgrade from 282 is 552..
Chag -
The more sophisticated appreciate what the debonair 252 brings to the party imho

No doubt. Whilst others might just question whether it is really worth going from a GBP9K preamp to a GBP11K preamp? Even I admit, I like the 252 and should have gone straight there in the first place. But I didn't and I won't bother now. Life is too short to muck about with the system so much when I could just listen to music and quietly wait for the day when the leap to a 552 is attainable.
Ahhhh Lindsay.... why do you keep on teasing me.... ?
Now I have to try that Supercap on my 282....
Great to see you at the weekend Lindsay. Do let us know how you get on with the Supercap; I bet it will be fabulous on the 282.
Best regards, FT
Thank you guys.
The plan has always been (notwithstanding Lotto) to consolidate around the Xerxes/CDS3/Nat 05/282/250/S20s. In doing that I intended to have the HCs DR’d and the XPS2 but a demo has revealed that a SC DR on the 282 provides such an uplift - soundstage, resolution, bass definition, textures - that all 3 sources will benefit greatly.
I’ll DR the HC for the Superline in due course and think about the XPS2.

Lindsay
THE STRAT (FENDER),
i follow with intrest this thread as this was my possible next upgrade.I have read previous that a hc on a 282 is all you need unless the addition on a sc is to allow the move to a higher up the ladder pre.
I have no intention to move away from the 282 and see it been with me for years to come.I can home dem so when the time is right I will give it a go.
One question,
if I may ask ,did you buy new or used as there is quite a saving to be had on used dr versions.?All of my other kit has been bought new so I have no experience with used kit.
Matty
Marty,
i have bought used with great experience - CDS3//XPS/Nat 05/HCs but on this occasion gone new.
On your other point yes a SC can be a stepping stone for a 252 but to my ears it’s a game changer on the 282.

Lindsay

I agree - but please try the SCDR on the Superline (with the Burndy connection) even with a non-DR HC on the 282. Then plan for a second Supercap DR
Ha ha - it has to stop somewhere Chris.
As you bought new I hope you don't have to wait too long, my recent hicapdr purchase took best part of 2 months - but all the better when it does arrive, enjoy!
Congrats ????????
If the S20s are anything like the C2s the supercap will clean them up a treat, shame about the superline though.

Lindsay, I have a 282 + SCDR and have upgraded on loan the XPSDR to 555DR on the nDAC and wow. I have been thinking about the pre as well but I have to say this is enough for the digital music including CDs which play via the nDAC. It’s as if a lot of the background instruments were cloaked before and the cloak has been removed. You know they are there but the full contribution they make is not quite there. The notes now fully bloom as one member has put it, giving more body and warmth to the music. I don’t think the 555 is going back. I love my CDX2 as well.
Enjoy the SuperCapped 282 and know that it has a fine life ahead.

Great news Lindsay. Do tell as it beds in and opens up your music collection.
