NDS 2nd 555PS
Posted by: laurence on 16 February 2018
I have bought a 2nd 555PS for my NDS.
Should I use the DR one for the analog or digital output, as I have one with and one without DR ?

Come on AlanBass1 -- that's too easy. We wouldn't need the Forum anymore, if we trusted our ears...
I would install the DR version on the analog side without hesitation of course. Mind you that some have reported that connecting 2 DRs was almost sine qua non to go 2x555PS.
Chag -
One supply feed is pure Analogue after the D to A circuits and the other supply feed is all the Digital circuits up to and including the D to A, so the latter supply has a bit of Analogue and actually the most sensitive part, so there is not a neat split in fact.
Not having the already D to A signal go again through any noise from the digital circuits (induced into the power leads) is the reason to keep the supply signals apart in terms of the power feeds, as was found in practice too.
To get the very best then there should be three supplies. Like on the ND555
One pure Analogue, on pure Digital and one special just for the D to A module itself.
But does not help the OP - just try both. You may also find one 555PS box will sound better when bottom of the stack, probably the 'Digital'. In the end both DR will work best - but well run-in DR supplies, as new the DR supply can sound stark and bland compared to the non-DR 555, but that effect goes after a few months run-in.

Apologies, I’m showing bad form. Recommendation duly retracted
When I was running a DR 555PS with a non DR 555PS on my NDS, the Naim and dealer advice was to DR the analogue side. This is how it was configured and it sounded very good indeed. But as has been pointed out, it's something which can be AB'd. I didn't bother because it sounded so good.
