272 Hidden circuit or feature?

Can somebody explain to me what is happening with my 272?I have a Core/272/XpsDR/250 DR running Dynaudio Special 40s.I also have the 272 connected to my Dynaudio XD 600s,which are active speakers, using the 272s digital out. Both are set up in the same room, right beside each other,I am always comparing the two for performance.Anyway, today I noticed that I can switch between which pair of speakers is playing, simply by increasing the volume on the Naim remote,or XD remote.Once I increase the volume, that pair of speakers starts playing, and the other pair stops. No switching of inputs is done, at all,and looking at the app, nothing changes when I do this.I do have the digital out enabled in the settings menu,I just find it wierd that an increase in volume activates which pair I hear playing, with no other buttons on the remote(s) pushed.I know you should turn off features on the 272 that you are not using, which I have done, but on the Chord Dave thread, which I follow,it is recommended that you disconnect any cables from inputs not currently being used.Would this also apply to the 272?Are multiple connections at once somehow detrimental to the sound? The 272 and Core are both connected to my router with their own Ethernet cable, and the XD 600s are connected to the 272s digital out.Anyone ever come across this? Both speakers will not play at the same time, whichever pair I last use the volume on,is the only pair that plays. This works on internet radio,or music played from my Core.Actually,I just noticed that I can play both at the same time, interesting.

The digital out isn't affected by the volume setting - it's always the same level.

So, when you increase the volume on the 272 there will come point where the 250/Special 40s suddenly go from being a lot quieter than the XD 600s to a lot louder.  The effect will happen really quickly at one particular point as the volume is changed.  Is that what you're mistaking for switching?

Probably Huge,I just find it odd that the 272 is outputting from the analog and digital circuits at the same time.I do like it though, because I can stick one pair in my bedroom, which is right beside the living room, and have multiroom play, with separate volume controls. You could also feed a separate DAC or preamp a signal at the same time as you are playing the Naim stack.Normally when I am not listening to the XDs,I just power them down,I just happened to have them on still, with the volume turned down all the way when I noticed this.

I ran this past Naim and the consensus was that Huge is mostly likely correct here.

Thanks Richard,I would assume that an NDX,NDS etc. would be able to do the same thing then, since they have digital out also.Things would obviously different with active ATCs connected, being that they take an analog signal. In that case you would have to choose the analog output the ATCs are connected to.
