Help please on this. I've been using an adaptor to connect a connect a standard type FM lead, this adaptor seems to have now fallen apart, I can't make it go back together properly, and to prove the point, FM stations are now noisy, S/N wise. Does anyone know the name of the connection, to go directly between the coaxial lead and the socket. I'm sure this would be an improvement. Furthermore, could anyone recommend a good brand and where to get one from? Perhaps I could buy a standard FM plug of the same brand that would go into the wall socket with similar improvements. Thanks, Mike

It's an F Connector. You should be able to pick one up in Maplin or similar shops. Very easy to assemble onto the cable. As you suggest, you could buy a ready made lead (Belling Lee plug to F plug) - again Maplin or Amazon should have these.

You almost certainly can put the old one back onto the cable. You may have to cut the cable and expose a few MM of the centre Core and with the braid also exposed but well clear of the inner, you just screw the F connector onto the cable. The exposed inner is the centre conductor of the plug.
