Wow - what's changed? Qobuz chromecast now displaying album artwork on Nova!

Posted by: Alley Cat on 07 March 2018

Just messing around with streaming Qobuz from iPhone X to my Nova and instead of the pair of quavers appearing on screen I'm now seeing album artwork - can anyone confirm this?

Albums so far (not purchased):

Thompson Twins - Into The Gap ( a fave pop album of the 80's)

Nanci Griffith - Storms

Marilyn Manson - Heaven Upside Down

Gary Numan - Savage

....and this is weird as I've not manually updated either the Qobuz app or Nova firmware!

Have the Qobuz streams changed or is this a change in Nova functionality?

Can Tidal users confirm if they saw album artwork before?

Don't tell me it can now do gapless too......perhaps too much to hope....

 Oops!

Thought it sounded worse - I had accidentally selected Airplay!

Some services do give artwork via Chromecast. BBC iPlayer radio does although it's just one image. Google play music, Tidal and Spotify all do. Qoboz no chance not sure their implementation is all that good tbh.

Interesting as I've not tried to 'cast' any other services.  Don't suppose any of them offer gapless?

Qobuz seem to do things in a somewhat unique way!

Not really used them apart from BBCiPlayer so can't comment on gapless. It's all possible via Chromecast though if they code for it.

Yes, so I gather - probably not high on the priority list but it's very important to many of us.  Ruins many prog albums and operas when you have gaps in continuous sections.

Well, how about that!

Latest Qobuz app update 'fixes metadata' and we now get album art.  No gapless alas.
