Spotify & Napster

Posted by: bill-a-bong on 01 September 2011

I've been a Spotify premium user for a while now, and noticed that many key artists are excluded, e.g.  Beatles, Floyd, King Crimson. Anyone know if Napster runs on similar lines, or does it offer more?

I have both spotify Premium and Napster. You will not find any albums by Beatles, Floyd etc on either as they do not licence them to either Spotify or Napster

OK, thanks for that. Obviously it's a matter of opinion, but does Napster have any obvious advantages over Spotify?

Napster has more music and the interface is better, allowing more exploration I found.  Integration into Sonos is also more polished.

However I moved over to Spotify from Napster when Napster on Sonos became unreliable at the turn of the year.

I'm now sticking with Spotify.  The sound quality is much better with quite a lot of content at 320kbps and I can live with the user interface shortcomings.  The iPod and Andorid offline portable capability also helps seal the deal for Spotify for me.

Thanks, Richard. I guess I'll stick with Spotify.

Spotify just needs an iPad app and NStream just needs AirPlay - the it would work seamlessly (currently have to route spotify via apple tv and operate on a rather shoddy iPod app)
