Quick question on NDS, can XPS2 substitute the 555PS to power NDS?
Thanks

Yes.

Yup, you can use the XPS2, just make sure you have the link plug fitted on Burndy Input 2.

Should the link plug be included on the NDS input 2 originally?
Should I expect significant performace degradation relative to 555PS?
Thanks
As for the first question - yes.
And as to the second, you'll need to listen for yourself to judge the gap between NDS/XPS2 and NDS/555PS (I've never done the comparison myself).
I upgraded my NDS from XPS to 555. A significant improvement. Unsure why you go back to XP’s.

Now CDX2/XPS2/NDac/NDX setup.
I see an oppo to buy NDS or 555PS or both at a good price Also, Want to try CDX2/555PS and Ndac/555PS/NDX
But just getting NDS and power it by XPS2 is also an option.
Trying to figure out an optimal path....
Can someone with similar setup enlighten me?
Thanks.
I am very impressed with my NDS/XPS DR and I'm sure I could live happily ever after with it. Still, I'll be upgrading to 555 DR at some point, because I just need to know how that will sound in my own setup.
Btw, I used to have 202/200 nDac/CD5XS/XPS-2. Although not a 100% similarity, at least close to your current setup.
Surely the nDAC becomes redundant and can be sold if you get an NDS. Bearing in mind the streamer itself can be used as a DAC upgrade for anything you currently happen to connect to the nDAC. So finance-wise, you can sell off 2 boxes.
If box count matters 555PS/NDS/CD5XS (or of course CDX2 with digital out) is a brilliant 3 box solution, imo. I sold off my CD5XS to make space for a Supercap to power my Superline, but I thought CD5XS into NDS was smashing!

thanks for everyone's reply. kmoldskred: have you tried NDS/555 before ? How far is it to your existing setup ?
thanks
Hmm, my post was not posted. Here we go again:
I havn't tried NDS/555 before, but I intend to make the upgrade as an x-mas present to myself. That is of course if I behave well for the rest of the year.
I would like to state though, that the NDS/XPS DR sound fantastic in my setup and imo it's not a must to upgrade. I'm just very curious to know what the 555PS (dr or non dr) will bring to my setup, so I can't help myself! I also trust the feedback of fellow forum members both in this forum and in the Norwegian forum with regards to the NDS/555. It's nice to have something to look forward to, but I'm enjoying my system immensely every day, and I always thought it was important to keep equipment long enough to get to know it properly. I had an XPS-2 for 3,5 years before getting a DR version mid 2016, actually making it 5 years with the XPS.
Treat yourself to an early Xmas present just in case you don,t behave yourself, it works for me. Quite a lot of protest from the rest of family, though
Hopefully some good NDS deals for you with ND555 being launched.
Gazza, I've already treated myself with a Supercap (and 17 pin Burndy) for my Superline. I also intend to get the Tranquility for my LP12 very soon. My girlfriend will get the next upgrade: She wants a larger drawing bord (she's an artist) and it will cost us about 2000 GBP. My plan is to first get her the fancy drawing bord and then get the 555. I think that is the best way to do it!
That sounds a plan, hope she likes her drawing board. I think we both need to get to a point like Tonym on the forum who has so many boxes that his wife probably can,t tell if he has slipped another box into his system. Anyway you have a lovely system and understanding girlfriend, so that’s just great.
I did manage to slip a HeadLine into the system without her knowing it. She was gone for the weekend and it's a small box. Most importantly she was gone when the Fraim arrived. 9 Naim boxes arriving at the door is hard to explain. There is space next to the SuperLine for an Armageddon, and she won't notice it I'm sure. I could also possibly place a Uniti Core next to our cable tv decoder without her noticing, but that is a gamble.
Anyway, I think PTCM would be very happy with NDS/XPS coming from nDac, and most likely happier with an NDS/555. As imho the NDS is wonderful. It will be very interesting to listen to the new line of streamers as well. It seems they are being demoed in Norway end of April (I live in Norway). Even though I'm not in the market for a new streamer since my NDS does more than need it to do, I'm very interested in listening to music on the new line. Especially the ND555:-)
Yes I saw the announcement for a demo of Statement amps and other Naim equipment in Bergen. Rather like Bergen, nice city, but a bit too soon to plan for me. If you do get there, please feedback, we here about too few outside the UK.
I intend to go. I've lived 5 years in Bergen so any excuse to go back is welcome. I'll make sure to report! I reckon a home demo is still not possible end of April:-)
I see now there is no mention of the new streamers being demoed. I just assume they will be! I'm going anyway. There's a new pizza place I need to try out.
