Sonus Faber Cremona M & Naim Recommendations

Posted by: GT1983 on 27 March 2018

Hi

I have the option to buy a pair of mint condition sonus faber cremona m and would like peoples advice on pairing with a naim streaming setup vs separates.

Does the one box Uniti Nova/Star/SuperUniti2 have enough power output to get the best of out the cremona? or do you need to go with the classic series DAC and SuperNait?

I am looking for a more upfront and attacking sound. Imagine playing The White Stripes or The Chemical Brothers. Any recommendations on other DAC and amp combo's?

I play Nova with Sonus Faber cremona. They sound great.

Thanks Sourav - Did you try any other combinations of DAC/Amps before you settled on Nova? how would you describe the sound?

It might be better to choose  your preferred system first and then audition speakers around that rather then the reverse

I had a pair of Cremona M speaker and I matched them with several Amps, which all not satisfied me. May be I am looking too high on it (sound quality). I tried to several Amp like Naim 202/200, Naim SuperNait, Accuphase E550 Class A integrated amp, Accuphase C38000 & A65 pre and power amp. All felt like the sound not 'weight' (fuller sound) enough and felt like 'light weight'. So if you wish to go then think twice. This is not the capable speaker like Elipsa. I hope you understand my meaning of capable.

I primarily use the Cremona with 2 Monoblocks of MC275. But Nova can drive them pretty well too.

However, as some one else posted here, Cremona has its own signature voice/sound. May not be for everyone. So please audition before you buy. I auditioned it along with B&W speakers at same price range. I found Cremona to be more musical and less fatiguing for extended hours of listening. So I went for it.

Hello! I had the Cremona M and found that they sounded slightly muted and restrained albeit very musical when driven with low power SS amplifiers. They did not induce any fatigue. When driven with Devialet Expert Pro, they really opened up, and provided me with great pleasure.

if you happen to like their character, you might be happy in any case, so best would be to give them a listen. The stands are, of course, critical.

Enjoy your music!

I used Cremona M with 200, 250 and now 300. These speakers need high power amplifiers, the results with the 300 is just magic !!
