Keep cd5x or not

I bought the NDX, but I do not know if I would keep the CD 5X CD player. I have about 300 discs.
All music is moved to NAS .
Keep cd player or not?
Goran, to ensure your post complies with forum rules I've made a minor edit.
The answer to your question probably hinges on whether you wish to continue spinning CDs from time to time? If so, maybe just an inexpensive transport connected into the NDX as DAC might suffice? Then you put any proceeds from your CD5x towards improvements elsewhere in the system, or maybe even trade it in for a Hi-line, Powerline, or even a s/h XPS2 for the NDX...
All I can say to answer is that I wish I had kept mine; even without a PS it was a very nice player, and would serve as a "rest of my life" backup for streaming.
Alternately you can sell and get another less costly alternative strictly as a backup, and use the extra cash for either music or towards other upgrades.
I purchased a NDX several years ago using in a Olive system the D player gathered dust so I part exchanged in when I upgrade to a new Black box system never missed it at tall the extra convenience of streaming wins every time for me as Richard said you could use the proceeds to upgrade.
In your position, I personally would get rid of the CD player. The only reason I can think of for keeping it is if, perhaps, you find the musical presentation of the CD player is different, and perhaps has a style that you enjoy with a particular genre of music. Otherwise, I would sell it before it depreciates any more, and banish those nasty plastic CD cases to the loft!
Keep it, it's a no brainer, you have approx the same cd collection as I have, mine is going nowhere, it's a great spinner, but opinions vary.

I use the a NAS > NDX > SN2 > S-400 and that has worked fine and love the convenience of streaming from the NAS or from TIDAL.
Then recently I had the Din port on the NDX stop working and had to have the dealer ship the NDX out for repair. I have a CD player as a loaner and find the clutter of CD's to be an annoyance.
The adaptation to the ease of using an iPad to play an album vs physically grabbing each CD then loading/unloading and putting back away occurred very quickly. I personally feel that I do not need a CD player and would rarely use it if it was around the house full time. I am fortunate that I have a fantastic dealer close by to sort things out quickly if a problem arises. I will not have any problem living with just the NDX once again when it returns.
Good luck with your decision
I regretted selling mine about a year after I sold it.
Can't comment about your situation. However, I can lament the loss of a nice stack from the Naim line up:
The CD5XS/FlatCapXS/NaitXS. The flatcap xs could power both the CD5XS and the NaitXS. Wonderful system. I'm still not satisfied with the Naim streaming lineup...
I have thought about converting ours into a transport with a digital out. It sounds so good as it is with the FlatcapXS, that I have not been in a rush.
Put the depreciation concern aside. It's a CD5xs, not a yacht.
What I tell my wife when she's deciding to chuck perfectly good clothes is, keep it for 12 months. If you never use it once in that time, then get rid of it.
I doubt anyone else's experience means much here since we're all different. When I went for streaming and got rid of my only transport, I never gave it a second thought and years later still haven't. But there's no reason to suspect you'll be the same.
FWIW, if you just want to spin new discs before you've had a chance to rip them on the weekend, cheap CD players with digital out can be had for GBP100 or less.
The CD5X is a great player. I've used it with FCXS, HCDR, Hiline and Powerline. I'm currently using it bare, maybe a testament as to how fundamentally satisfying it is.
Sell off your 5X and let someone dedicated to direct CD replay enjoy its virtues.
Shift it on ..if you don't use it now you deffo won't in the future
Felt sad to sell mine ..but didn't miss it
No need to keep an unused item.
I were you I'd both sell it along the Nas and get a core.
A dedicated server works better and I'd even rip again, if not done,
in wav.
