Stacking order Fraimlite base + 2 levels

I have a SuperNait, CD5si and ND5XS. Like to know the best stacking order advice for Fraimlite base and 2 levels?

I'd go with the order that gives you the best cable dressing situation, but with three Fraim levels and assuming you have Naim ICs you're going to end up with cables on the floor no matter what you do.

Joerand, from top to bottom?

CD5SI

Supernait

ND5XS

Cables on the floor don't matter soundwise, i have done some test with getting them off the ground and hear no difference at all.

or the supernait with most weight at the bottom, than ND5xs and cd top?

I don't think it makes that much difference,  the heavier SN on the bottom shelf makes sense for better stability.  Then maybe think about ergonomics  ......  all the units can work with the remote &/or app except the CD5 which need a hands on human to load the CD's,  so thinking bending & stooping,  maybe better to have the CD5 on the top shelf.    But that begs the question - why have a CD player when you have an ND5  ???

My wife and i have a >1000 cd collection so much is of emotional value.

i only use the nd5xs for spotify/Iradio and it sounds better than the sonos connect connected to the SN DAC for the same purpose

okay, cd, nd5xs, SN.

OK I understand & please don't take this reply as me saying you're wrong.  I didn't have half as many CD's as you have,  but I made the decision to go streaming full time & ripped all the CD's to the new NAS during the 2 or 3 weeks it took for the NDX to arrive.  The CD's were transferred into storage boxes & the wall/floor space that opened up in the room was like a breath of fresh air.  The only thing we miss,  but only once in a while, is to read the CD album notes.              The other thing is the ND5 is capable of so much more  than just Spotify & iRadio;  Spotify is probably the worse sounding streaming service out there,  & although HD (320kb/s) iRadio is very good,  it is only a lossy stream.  With ripped CD's (to lossless WAV, FLAC or another) you have a far better SQ than Spoty & iRadio are capable of,  but you might say thats what the CD5 brings to the party,  OK thats true, but I have found some CD rips seem to sound better than the original CD,  also the reverse in other cases (why I don't know & its arguable anyway)    Whatever the bottom line is 24-bit & DSD brings far better fidelity than any of the above;   over the last years I've replaced a lot of my 'favourite' CD rips with 24-bit downloads of the same recording,  I do this especially if the recording is remastered / remixed & any www reviews rate it.  So why not try a few HR downloads,  why not rip a few of your CD's & see how you like them?    Anyway, veel plezier met het verplaatsen van de dozen rond..

i do not want a NAS and spend hours and hours ripping cd's, i think that is pretty stupid, sorry to say. Just as rip/record all you're vinyl to digital, gewoon stomme bezigheid. Spotify 320 kbs sounds pretty good and the convenience is outstanding.

Yes, it does take a lot of time to rip CD's, I have over 1200 ripped to a NAS. The convenience of choosing the album via the iPad, which the wife also finds to be easier, without having to load a CD player each time and putting them away is where that time spent ripping CD's all comes back. I used to always have a pile of CD's hanging around taking up space needing to be replaced on the shelf. Having all the CD's out of site and out of mind is also a bonus for the living room as well.

Having looked at Spotify and Tidal, I went with TIDAL Hi-Fi subscription which sounded the best for me.

For myself I let of the CD player go and went with the NAS (located downstairs with the switch and router) with the SN2 & NDX in the upstairs living room. Works well for me and the wife.

For the 3 shelf configuration I would put the SN2 on the bottom, the ND5XS in the Middle, with the CD5Si on top.

Congratulations on picking up the Fraim rack!
