Not posted for a long, long time but I am now looking for some new speakers to replace my ATC SCM 19's.
I have a 272, 250 DR, Unitiserve and Linn Sondek. I have listened to many speakers including the usual Kudos Super 20's, PMC, Spendor and Russell K'S.
I have demoed them at home and none have hit the mark. The Kudos, which I loved at the dealers, were dreadful at home, very bright, too much bass.
So back to the drawing board. I had a long trek to a dealer near Manchester to listen to some Audio Note ANK stand mount speakers.
Wow, what a revelation, did everything that I wanted, clear, detailed, nice controlled bass, easy to listen too and very musical.
I have a home demo coming up.
Just wondered whether anyone else has any experience of Audio Note speakers?

I used to have a pair of Snell Ks (very similar to the A-N speakers) when I lived in NYC. Really great sounding speakers (on C-J electronics), although I don't think I ever got the stands completely right and I sold them before I returned to the UK. I also really enjoyed a pair of Snell Bs but I don't think there was ever an A-N equivalent.

There great speakers.I had a pair of Snell type K' s on a extended home demo back in 1990 with a Audio Innovations series 500 valve integrated amplifier and a Voyd Valdi turntable. The system was very holographic but a bit flabby in the bass.I was really comparing the Audio Innovations integrated against my Bryston 0.5 preamp - 2 B Poweramp and the Bryston won out as it was so much faster on transients and had much tighter bass slam and definition so it all went back.
Have a friend who uses Audionote type J ' s which are slightly larger than K' s with a Kondo preamp and Consonance 211 monoblocks (output 8 watts a channel) and they sound really lovely.Just so unfitguing to listen too. They are excellent on classical and jazz.
If you like what your hearing with your K's in your room with your system buy them.I am not a liker of low sensitivity Loudspeaker's as you always have to have a muscle amp to make them sing your 250 will easily be able to drive them a Nait xs would be fine.
Audionote put alot of care into their crossover components and only use the best.
I have chatted to Peter Quortrop of Audionote UK many times over the years and he is a fascinating guy and has the most amazing record collection over 35 000 albums a real maverick of the industry

My AN-Js were somewhat tamed by my NAIT 5 compared with my one time AN Soro. They also lost something too.
You will just have to try the AN-Ks but you know that. Please let us know how it goes.

Guess John Devore O93 and O96 use same design principles....high efficiency, 2way, bigger front...cool thing about AN is the corner placement. Maybe give it a try....

Likewise, I like the idea of a corner placement for Audio Note speakers, so may investigate (had forgotten about their flexibility). Its a while since I heard an AN system and it was at a show. I do remembering it being one of the most engaging and memorable demos of the show. An Audio Note turntable, integrated (Otto I think) amp and mid sized AN speakers - it sounded very good, save for a slightly wayward bass response in the square room.
EDIT: BluesmanPedro, please keep the thread updated during your home dem.
