1877 phono/NAC A5

Has anyone tried 1877 Phono locking bananas on the end of NAC A5? Being as stiff and prone to popping out as they are, and being I want to re-terminate my cables anyways, thinking of giving these a try. Just wondering if anyone has tried them, and how well the cable fits into the 9mm version. Thanks.
Be careful with locking bananas - depending on the socket fixing you may end up putting more stress on the socket and damaging it if it's the PCB board mount type. From what you say about your cables popping out, it sounds they need a bit more care with dressing, Try shaping them (warm the cable up with a hairdryer) first before inserting into the plugs into the sockets. This should put less stress on the sockets and stop the plugs popping out as there won't be so much tension in the cables.
Plugs - the Naim SA-8 ones are about the best to terminate A5 with.

No worries there, I have the naim plugs already at the amp end and all is well there. I am only going to use these on the binding posts of the speakers, which seem pretty robust.
There's no better substitute for a properly soldered banana plug in my opinion. Deltron have long been recommended here, and work well for me, and they are cheap. I would only use gold plated plugs if the sockets on your speakers are also gold plated, otherwise stick with the regular nickel plated version. If you can't solder them yourself, you should be able to find a dealer who can.
I currently have gold plated deltrons, which pop out of my speaker posts. Also, I plan to solder these as well.
Strange, Deltrons are generally a good tight fit when I’ve used them. Maybe worth asking your speaker manufacturer what they suggest for a good fit. I’m not familiar with the 1877phono plugs, but I can see that they might solve your problem.
Believe it or not, the Deltrons are a nice snug fit, but I guess nothing is quite snug enough for the stiff beast that is NAC A5 lol ... I have to bend them around a bit behind the speakers. The plugs don't pop right out, but they come part way out. Just figured as I want to re terminate anyways, that I may as well look for something with a bit more grip. I went ahead and ordered these, I like that I can screw down the cable and solder it, plus the fact its locking. Should be decent, as long as the cable fits into them well.
9mm is huge! I imagine you could bend the stripped end of your NACA5 over and insert a double thickness to fill the hole.
I've used other 1877 stuff in the past and found it good quality ... But not used the phono locking plugs

Crap, you are right, the Nac A5 is only 4mm each side. I will get the 6mm version of this plug instead. Good thing they haven't confirmed my order yet! Thanks

Good to know! Thanks.

I'm assuming that they are referring to the diameter of the stripped cable, not the cross sectional area, by which some electrical cables are specified? Does anyone actually make speaker cable that fat!?
