272 on 250DR sounds like crap

your elac bs44 are perhaps the weak point in the chain.  272/250 can really sound amazing. I would go for proac tablette 8 or atc 11 or 19, if you have to stay with standmount speakers.

In a moderate sized room, 272 / 250 will sound better that 552/500 with big speakers...

Ive compared my 244 against scm19 and elacs won by a large margin. 

 

Speakers are so much a matter of personal taste - and it show how rubbish they mostly are, because if they approached perfection (by which I mean accuracy in reproducing audibly the signal fed to them, no more, no less) then they would tend to sound far more similar to each other, whereas in reality the differences in sound are mostly very obvious.

(Of course the room is an integral part of how speakers sound in practice, further modifying the sound often very substantially.)

But now for you all the sound is broken, so perhaps not only the 272/2550 but the speakers, too! - or was your audition of 500 through your speakers?

I've auditioned the 500 system with both Audio Physic Codex and my Elac 244BE, yes. So please, lets get back on topic which has nothing to do with my speakers, folks.

oh, yes, Naim dealers should check the credentials of would-be auditioners, and if they are honest and hard-working, refuse auditions of 500 series.

perhaps a scale of honesty and/or hardness of work against level of system that can be heard?
