NAP 200dr replaced by NAP250dr - about being the boss

Posted by: Iver van de Zand on 15 April 2018

Yesterday I replaced my NAP200dr with a new NAP250dr. The new amp is running in, but first impressions are very positive. The grip and authority again improved while already very good with the 200dr. The new 250 is really the "boss of my living-room": so much control, so much detail .... I am very, very happy. I was told some 100+ hrs run-in time would be sufficient.

Question to the forum: not too long ago I asked an expert for a second opinion on the exact placing/positioning of my loudspeakers. Of course when the Focal Kanta 2 was delivered the dealer spend quite some time with me to correctly position the loudspeakers. I made very minor tweaks afterwards, but still wanted a second opinion. Apparently I have done the work correctly and only very limited adjustments were done in the second opinion. Now that I have a new power amp, do you think I need to re-do the speaker-positioning-exercise? My first impression, is that it is not necessary, but I am interested in thoughts from the forum.

Cheers

Iver,

First the 282 is up there with the very best amps - enjoy the music.

With regard to speaker positioning there is only one way to find our!  For my part when I went from 200 to 250i just left everything as was.

Regards,

Lindsay

Iver nice move opting for the 250 but you need to update your footer.

Best advice I can offer is to have a play with their position. When I replaced my 300 with a 300DR it wasn't quite right and took me some time to adjust the speaker position so that I was happy. Glad that I did.

Every little tweak helps.
