CD player - Stiff drawer.

my cd5x drawer has, in the last two weeks, become increasingly difficult to open. There seems to be nothing impeding it’s action; no scraping, no noises etc. Never the less, the force required to open and close is significant - I have to hold the case to prevent the whole thing moving! Playback is unaffected. As the transport has been used widely for some time I wonder if anyone has seen anything like this? What is the best course of action? Is it simply ‘a spot of oil’ or something else?... Any thoughts on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

I've come across it a couple of times before in the past. IIRC the drawer will need some proper service attention by sound of it. It's a an extremely close tolerance assembly - the tiniest particle that gets ingested in the pivot can end up seizing it almost solid, and only a precise strip down and rebuild can fix it. It's time to call your Naim dealer...

Thanks Richard. I suspected as much - it’s ready for a clean and is essentially a non-owner serviced item.
