Hi all
I have just received and started to set up a new QNAP NAS, to enable me to use Asset with my NDX. (My current NAS is an old WD that will not support Asset, which I have been using for a while but via my laptop.)
Despite the hugely convoluted NAS set-up process generally, I seem to have it connected and working, by which I mean I am currently copying the content of my old NAS to the QNAP - which will take the best part of the next two days (350GB).
In the meantime, I have downloaded Asset to my laptop, and installed it on the QNAP. However...
When I click on the Asset icon in the QNAP app section, I think the settings are supposed to open in a web page - but the page won’t open and a browser error message says “This site can’t be reached. [NAS] refused to connect”.
Is there a network setting or similar in the QNAP that I need to enable? Or some other setting that is preventing the QNAP from being able to open the Asset settings page?
Thank you!
Matt

Can you confirm that the file you downloaded was called Asset-premium.qpkg ?
Did you install it via the QNAP's App Centre using the "Install Manually" option (Top RH corner) and navigate to the .qpkg file on your computer ?
Does the Red Asset 6 icon appear in the App Centre and have you started Asset and selected Display on Administrator's main menu or Every Users menu ?
Are you trying to open Asset via the Red Asset icon on your QNAP's main menu ?
If so this should open the config page with a green Asset icon on a separate webpage with the i.p. address of your QNAP server followed by :45537 e.g. 192.168.x.xxx:45537
If Asset is not opening via the icon on your main menu, you could try opening its webpage by typing in the server address followed by :45537 but this shouldn't really be necessary if you've followed the steps above.

Thanks for your reply, SJB.
The answer to your 4 questions is “yes”. And the webpage has the address you refer to - but I get the “refused to connect” error message.
On further reflection I think it is a firewall issue, but I haven’t yet worked out how to resolve it.

I've just moved over to a QNAP HS-251+, and I seem to remember having a similar problem. I can't remember exactly what I did to solve it. It may have been that I couldn't access the set-up directly via the NAS (plugged into the TV) but when I tried from my PC I could get to it.
Sorry to be so unhelpful, but at least there's hope!
The Asset forum is very helpful, so if you're still not sorted, try there.
