IsoAcoustics GAIA isolation feet
Posted by: SimonPeterArnold on 25 April 2018
Hi I am thinking of replacing my spikes on speakers with these feet to improve resonance and unwanted bass bloom. Has anybody any experience with them and speakers?
some older posts exist on these.....in the search part of the forum.
Yes, I tried them and they made no difference. Perhaps my speakers were already well isolated from the floor with spikes > shoes > granite > carpet.
I bought a set for my PMC 20.23s because they greatly reduced 'boominess'. I am sure that the laminate flooring
and position were to blame but the Gaias worked well for me, very happy.
I use Gaia IIIs with my Focal 1008be II to great effect.
Thanks for the replies. I have me speakers on laminate which is itself on raised wood so looks like it might improve things. Next thing for me to purchase.
If you're exciting the bass resonance of the room, then the feet may weaken the bass response of the speakers, but it won't reduce the problem with the low frequency reverberation time. The only way to deal with this is bass traps (and they'll deal with the excessive bass 'bloom' at the same time).
They worked for me. I have Kef Reference 1 speakers with dedicated stands on a limestone/concrete floor that also has piped underfloor heating. Improved bass and all but killed boom. I started a post at the time if you do a search. I would not go back to spikes. They also look great.
Hi
My SBL are on solid oak floor and the GAIA made a noticeable difference, wider soundstage and more defined space.
I use GAIA 11s under my Dyn XD 600s,on laminate flooring...like others have said, bass got tighter, more focused imaging, better details, look really cool...worth the outlay to me.
i am using finite elemente cerabases under speakers with great effect. same principe as the gaia. my floor is bouncing wood laminate.
i use also sonitus bass trap and reflexive panel.
