Spotify Connect Drop Out UnitiQute2

Posted by: Professor Fink on 05 May 2018

Hello there

I've had a very stable system for about three years now. I have a UnitiQute2. A couple of days ago when listening to Spotify my feed suddenly stopped and 'input initialising' would show on the display rather than the track and attempts to start playing the track again are either faltering or fail. After restart (everything back to my modem I've tried) I noticed it seemed to coincide with the display going to sleep(?) I can't play spotty at all now without the issue, but all other feeds, Internet Radio, NAS etc all fine. Any thoughts? Noted there is a firmware upgrade, but have yet to do this. Apps up to date.

Thanks in anticipation.

HI,

I've been experiencing the same issues with my Unitilite since Friday morning.  Dropouts were so persistent throughout extended listening sessions on Friday and Saturday night that I abandoned Spotify for internet radio.  Additionally tracks were refusing to play at all, which is a new issue for me.    Historically, I've had persistent issues with Spotify, primarily due to latency, network traffic (or potentially very low upload speed?) as far as I can establish but this was addressed when I upgraded to Sky's FibraMax package.  Given my internet connection looks fine, it appears this may be a Spotify issue?

I haven't updated to 4.6 yet, as I don't have a multi-room set-up and opinion seems varied on the pros and cons versus 4.4.  I also haven't seen any comments on the SQ benefits for the Unitilite, which I've very much welcome if anyone can share their experience?

Update - Have deleted and re-installed the Spotify and Naim apps and carried out a factory re-set on the Unitilite to no avail.  I'm thinking this must be a Spotify issue.

I have a similar issue with Spotify and my 272 which now stops, seemingly randomly, at the end songs. The app was updated very recently so I wonder whether they have made a few "enhancements".

Can you roll back to a previous version of the app? To be honest that may not make any difference as I can close the app down and continue to listen via the 272 anyway...

I am NOT running an updated version of the 272 (and I see that ORCA901 isn't either) so that might be useful when reporting problems.

Hi,

Interesting to see that the issue(s) is affecting a UQ2, Unitilite and a 272.  Spotify updated their iPhone app a couple of days ago according my update log but the iPad app doesn't appear to have been updated.  I first encountered the problem on Friday morning, which predates the iPhone app update by a day.  I'll keep an eye on this and update in due course.  Downdetector  http://downdetector.co.uk/problems/spotify might be useful to inform the debate but I think I'm experiencing the issue more frequently that the reports indicate.

Hi everyone

Thanks for sharing on this. I should have noted I'm using the iPad Spotify App by the way. As above I'd run all the recent updates bar the streamer. Have now also done the firmware update to the Uniti and things are running OK. Out of interest I reactivated my Tidal subscription prior to doing this and that failed to run properly at all, hence why I set to and did the update.

At the end of last year I attended a Naim event and I had asked about future updates given the launch of new products and was told it would be unlikely, so maybe by virtue of the fact one was made available there were issues to be resolved.

I'm not sure it's dependent on the Spotify App itself as I "believe" stream is direct from Spotify, not through the app itself. I could be wrong but I suspect that's how it works and how you can control a playing stream from any other Spotify installation (via PC, iMac, iPad, etc).

I've just tried Spotify from my iPhone to my AV amp which is using the same router and wired (as is the 272) and it's running perfectly. It just seems to be my 272 that's effected.

I see that there’s another Spotify app update. I haven’t tried it yet, will do this afternoon, but wondered whether it had solved anyone’s issue?

I updated to 4.6 tonight and early indications are positive, with no Spotify dropouts during a short listening session.  A longer listening session on Friday night will be more informative.  It's also too early to comment on any impact on SQ but I'll feedback on this in due course.  I also updated the iPhone app and still had dropouts before the 4.6 update.

I'm pleased to report there were no dropouts or "Input initialising" messages during an extended listening session last night.  Regarding SQ, I didn't notice any difference, then again I'm not sure how much the upgrade might have affected Spotify.     I really need to get a NAS setup sorted out!

Hi, I thought a further update would be useful.  Still no drop outs After the 4.6 update - long may this continue.

As for SQ, there is no obvious improvement or deterioration to my ears.

Thanks a lot for updating. I haven't got around to updating my 272 yet and I haven't used Spotify as much recently so have noticed any further issues...
