Naim core does not go into standby mode.

Posted by: fred47 on 07 May 2018

Hi All,

This is getting rather silly. My Naim core does not go in standby mode.it stays on full power.meaning the logo is lit and the front buttons. So far I tried on the app every time setting. from none to never. So far I tried Router reset, factory reset, full reset with the powercord out. All to no avail.

When I press the power button on the app it goes on stand by. but when a time is set no way.Nova works fine

Helpie ( which is Dutch for some help needed.)

If you set to Never then it will always stay awake.

I suggest you set to 2 or 20 (or whatever other number you want) minutes then it will go to network sleep after that time. In network sleep the logo is off but it is still discoverable on your network and can serve music under control of the app.

Reading your post again, I'm not sure that I understood it right.

If you are playing something from the Core on s/pdif then I don't think it will go into standby until that has finished. Also have you got "stay connected" checked in the app? Not sure that is relevant mind.

David,

The situation is like this: If I ripped a cd in to the Core and the rip is done the Core stays in full power mode, not going into standby. I set the time to 20 minutes ( checked green) but it does not work. It stays in full power mode. ( a; the bittons ligt up.

If your Core used to be ok but started to do this after a firmware update, or it's a new Core which has had a firmware update since it left the factory, then I would expect a reset of the Core to factory settings to sort out odd things like this.

If you have tried that or it just started to behave like this, I suggest you give Naim support a call because I have no other suggestions.

I have had the same issue  totally understand the frustration that it does not behave as directed by the app.

Any suggestions to fix it?

As I said before, resetting the Core to factory settings should fix it.

Apart from that, which app is it? If it's the Android app, then that does behave less well than the IOS app and it varies according to the Android hardware. So if you are running the Android app, can you get a friend with IOS to run the IOS app and see whether that fixes the issue? A Core on latest firmware controlled by the IOS app does behave properly in regard to this issue you both are seeing.

Have tried the factory reset several times, to no avail. I got an IOS app so there should be no problem. Strange this is.

Yes it is strange. I suggest talking to Naim support.
