I am very very much looking forward to the show even combined with the Can Jam, I might also need to go two days instead of one to cover it sufficiently. In this post I will also provide you with a report as I hope others can do.
According to my Magazine the main setup will be ND555, statement and a Focal Grande Utupia EM Evo.....so let’s see

It’s not a big effort. And being forced to listen more critically as I want to give an impression to all others on the forum, helped me to even enjoy the event more.
Tomorrow day time I will continue with completing my day one and hope to also be able to publish on day 2. Musical call outs for today
....Audionet
Senheiser new 820’s
Shure KSE1200 and 1500
Sony’s top end Walkman
the Westend Tube amplifiers wth a swapping 100 Watts
Bert; on behalf of the Forum community members I am giving you the Naim Audio Forum Fellow Award of the year. Bouquet on its way from Westland. ????

Once you reach jazz saturation point the number of rooms worth visiting becomes severly limited.

Speaking of Shure and their HPs, have you heard that after 90 years Shure has ended phono cartridge manufacturing?
Surely not

Yes, I posted on this on the Garrard and SME thread last week. It's certainly the end of an era, but the fact is that for many music lovers a Shure cartridge hasn't been on their purchase radar for a good many years. The days of the M75ED/EJ being the de-facto standard across the entire turntable world are long gone.

True a lot of safe jazz, typical audiophile Records which have to impress you with whatever the demo person wants to proof and sometimes some blues or politically correct rock.
Seldomly heard, piano or concerto, chamber music, progressive metal music. But I guess it is as much a problem of the demo’s as it is us visiting, we walk immediately away when something is outside the norm.....
Bert Schurink posted:There was an interesting session yesterday of Lyn Stanley and a cutting engineer who was also creating audio equipment. She explained how she only worked with two takes. And how they are preparing for a direct to cut recording which is planned for February 2019. And how this works including quality of musicians stress etc... I found it very interesting, more than the system in the background...
Hi Bert,
Great reports. Did you listen to the EAR-YOSHINO system? Did you note what speakers those were? Grahams??
Thx

Yes, they are Grahams. Grahams posted a photo on FB yesterday. Bert noted his thoughts about this system in his report, which you've quoted.
Grahams also launched 2 new speakers at the show, but their FB post gave no details. Doh!

Surely (no pun intended!) it was the V15 in its various marks that was the de facto standard?

Interesting posts thanks Bert.
Audionet and Lindemann did a good job last year too. Looking forward to your thoughts on Finestra and TAD.
For those of you craving more (and more detailed) photos there's some excellent content, as usual, by Leo Yeh.
Have to talk a bit more about the Tubes on steroids I saw and heard again yesterday. On the first day I only heard the shortly and things where not warmed up. Now I had an intensive listening system with the legendary Thomas Hintze. Great experience. They had the tubes you see on the top with 100 watts called Monaco and then they had also an US prototype with only 20 watts and I heard both. A nice experience to get this vinyl feeling while listening to digital sources. Warm full sound which easily drove the Gauder speakers. At close to 19.000 euros it could be a nice setup for a 2nd system for some of the more wealthy ones under us. When you can have a listen. As it combines the nice aspects of Tubes and has gotten around the negative aspects of the Tubes. The pictures of the 2nd session are below...
And some more pictures of the Westend Gauder demo with great music of Thomas...

One of the speakers in the Ear Yoshino system are Graham Audio LS5/8's according to the Stereophile report. Nothing in the report about the smaller ones next to them.

They even look like the Harbeth 40.2 with the dust covers on don't you think?
Stein Music, a massive Sound, but in my ears missing the PRAT I like to hear. Strange construction style of the speakers as well....
Audio vector - raw sound good for rock..
The Beast sounded like a beast not impressive not refined...
I’ll take my little Tab 10 over any of these monsters !

Yeah they do, they have this nice monitor aspect to them. Fine engineering.
Kharma, never heard of them had this amazing wooden panels on the sides of the room. They played Santana and I had the feeling that I missed a level of detail and that the sound stage could be wider. The rest of the sound was nice.
