Munich

I am very very much looking forward to the show even combined with the Can Jam, I might also need to go two days instead of one to cover it sufficiently. In this post I will also provide you with a report as I hope others can do.

According to my Magazine the main setup will be ND555, statement and a Focal Grande Utupia EM Evo.....so let’s see

Eek!  OK, I'm busted.  In spite of its Goodmans connection, the NAM 402 may have been the first Naim product.  My notes say it first appeared in 1969. But, whether it actually qualified as a proper Naim product, with only a tiny number made,  is another question, so as far as history is concerned, it's the NAP160.

Well, history gets re-written often enough, so why not here and now with Naim.  Let's not allow a few loudspeakers to cloud the annals* of the world's best amplifier manufacturer, eh?

(* whoops, good job I spellchecked that before posting)

Mixing deputy dawg with scoobydoo? I only have vague memories of the former but I suspect it’s beyond the pale to modern sensibilities.

It will be  interesting reading reports of the ND555....lucky are those who will get to hear it tomorrow

Perhaps not so lucky, given the Focal loudspeakers...

I bet the Sopra 1s would turn a few heads on that big system....

Bert, I have also ordered an ND555 (subject to audition).  I was trawling through earlier posts to see if you have a view about 4.6 on NDS vs 4.4, but there’s so much fragmentation, I didn’t find your opinion. Do you have one?

I ask because I am so impressed by 4.6 that I find it hard to conceive what kind of improvement Naim may have wrought with ND555 over NDS 4.6 in the sound quality dimension. Obviously I would also be welcoming the Roon endpoint implementation, and maybe the screen etc., but I really look forward to your view as to whether the ND555 is a serious improvement  to the NDS at the substantial price difference (and I hope it is!).

Sorry, you misunderstood. I meant streaming from Melco through the DAVE/Blu2 combination, as opposed to DAVE/Blu2 playing the CD directly.

blimey - glad to be corrected. I don't want to pay for the CD player in Blu2 myself.

Chord have confirmed more Mscalers on the way - (hopefully without the CD player....)

Hi David, I don’t yet have 4.6 on my NDS, I am waiting for my dealer to drop on on me and install it. When I have it I will definitely write about my experiences. My guess is that it closes in towards the ND555 as compared to the NDS sound before 4.6

Where did you see that?

It isn't of much relevance to the Hugo TT, unfortunately as it doesn't have the capability to be paired with an M-scaler.

So irrelevant to you.

It may not be relevant to me now but it could well do in the near future, so please don't presume.

So if you don't mind can you confirm where you got that news as i'm sure it's of interest and relevant to many?

You can  see confirmation of this on a video on youtube of Rob Watts when him and John Franks introduce the Chord Qutest

The Hugo TT 2 was a fairly safe bet for Munich, and a highly likely upgrade for me in the Autumn.

My interest in M-scaler was very relevant!

Don’t know about Munich - the show isn’t open yet - but Naim have just launched the new streamers by way of an email sent out today to people on their mailing list.

Dynaudio have an all new confidence line, with completely new design...and the price has skyrocketed.I don’t know if they will be playing in Munich,or just a static display....hopefully Bert has a chance to see and hear them.

There are some photos on the AVS Dynaudio owners thread forum, last page.

the price hike in the confidence is astronomical.... I've lost confidence .... But then Dynaudio are now owned by this company in china.

Shouldn’t that make them cheaper?

well it has one less tweet than the previous generation, but they increased the price?

it's out of reach financially..... 11,000 GBP for a bookshelf speaker? WTF....!!!

Just saw that besides the crazy set with statement they also will demo a normal set with the new NDX, NAC202 and NAP200, connected with the great Focal Kanta 2.
