Turntable Wall shelf or vibration platform?
Posted by: Rotifer217 on 10 May 2018
I currently have my Rega RP10 sitting on a MDF shelf. I'm considering either moving it to a TT wall shelf (not sure which make yet), or buying some form of vibration platform. My guess is that a wall shelf would be a better bet from a sound quality point of view? Interested in what others have experienced.

/Peder????
Yes, I know the Archidee stand well, although I don't have one, just some Audiotech tables. As you may well know, back in the day, Antonio Trebbi of Audiotech distributed Naim and Linn in Italy, and when the split came, Naim's distribution was handled by Archidee. I haven't seen or heard the Notable or the Isola, although the similarities to the Archidee are hard to miss...

What exactly is an lp12 version- I,m guessing deeper as I have to keep my tt pulled forward on my quad wall rack so I can still keep the dustcover in place and tilt it up and not hit the wall behind it. Don't know what level your lp 12 is at,mine was just upgraded and I was tempted to go from lingo 2 to lingo 4 just for the cosmetics alone . I figured a lingo 4 could be "mounted"on the steel plate under the shelf itself, but I just couldn't justify the extra expense especially w/o hearing it and I purposely did not listen to it!
The shelf is deep enough to allow the lid to fully open. The main difference is that the shelf lacks the brass sleeves normally seen on the equipment tables. Mine sits above a 4 shelf SVT rack and is an excellent visual match. The Radikal supply is on the bottom shelf of the rack. I also have A Naim glass shelf with cups and balls on top of the bamboo rack....works for me although Alestair at Quadraspire prefers the shelf without glass.
Here is SVT in the flesh with LP12, plenty of space to open lid, as mentioned there are no bronze bushes fitted to shelf. There is no steel plate under shelf on this model.
A problem I find with Fraim is tolerance build up the higher you go. The base might be perfectly level, but four shelves up it can be quite different.

It's usually pretty small and also why it pays to keep stacks low - i.e. multiple low stacks as opposed to a single high one. The trick is not to do the final tightening of the base spikes until you have the top level in place, and then you adjust so the top glass is perfectly level, and then tighten the base spikes.
The word maybe somewhat cursed still here, but Peter mentioned Mana.
I still love Mana, but sold all mine many years ago, amazing stands, but like rocking horse poo to find for sale.

My Roksan TMS still sits on a Mana stand, I couldn’t believe the uplift over a Sound Organisation stand 25-30 years ago, and it still sounds great.
