Extracting music from YouTube video.

Can anyone recommend software to allow me to extract the music track, and save as a download, from YouTube video content?

Cheers.

Ay caramba, done it using quicktime player to convert the music content to WAV , and now playing happily on my NDS.

Hi Dave, glad you got it sorted. Worth remembering that YouTube audio is usually AAC, so ultimately if you are doing many of these WAV is probably not an efficient codec to store in, although it gets around lossy transcoding issues, if you can’t extract the AAC from the MP4 container directly.

Hi Simon,

No, it's probably just a one off exercise, as I wanted to capture the "live" version of one of the tracks from the new Ry Cooder album, which is simply much funkier than the album version.

I looked at various third party software solutions for extracting audio, then, purely by accident, stumbled across the fact that I could use Quicktime Player to do the WAV conversion and subsequent transfer to a USB stick, which, of course, the NDS is happy to utilise.

Happy days.
