Super Lumina connection

Posted by: Robert Burgess on 08 June 2018

Hi - I understand that the SL interconnect leads shouldn’t be pushed in fully,  but should be pulled out a few mm from the socket  because of their special coupelling/isolation design. Is that also true for the SL speaker cable banana pins? I ask because their connection shroud doesn’t seem as flexible as on the SL interconnects. Thanks as always for your input - Bob

Yes - try pulling them back a bit, say 1mm, just so they only touch via the spring-loading of the banana pins. I hear it as cleaner and at least one other Forum member hears it as a clear no-brainer improvement. Just push them full-in then ease them back a tiny bit.

Is this for interconnect only or for din/xlr/loudspeakers as well ?

Both - try it.

Have now tried it. My old ears are probably not sensitive enough, but I confess the difference isn’t apparent to me. It was, however, on the DIN-XLR Super Lumina interconnect. Thanks - Bob

Emperor's cloths ?

Is this when the Emperor is persuaded to believe cloths are the latest fashion? And what has that got to do with HiFi?

Confused, of Chesham.

Good advice. Works for me.

This thread has also usefully reminded me to put J Cloths on my shopping list. They sound just as good as more expensive alternatives to me.
