The rule ought to be: when helping others spend their money, try not to lead them into divorce whereby they will lose whatever nice gear they already have as well as the upgrade.
When a member comes onto the forum with a budget of £1,000 to upgrade something only to be tip toed and slowly convinced, drip by drip, post by post, page by page that you will now need a budget of at least £10,000 to achieve the same goal.
