Unitiserve ssd.

I have owned a Unitiserve ssd for a few years. Recently when ripping new cd's I have found that neither the cd's nor the album art is recognised and have spent a lot of time manually editing them on n-serve. On this forum I can see that a firmware update (1.7b) is available and this should help me. I contacted Phil Harris and asked if he would be kind enough to send me a disc. Unfortunately he tells me that one is not available and sent me a link to updates on the Naim site.

I am not really very p/c savvy and wondered whether members of the forum could advise me how I should go about downloading the firmware. On n-serve my server is shown as version 1.6c so I am not really sure where to start as this does not appear on the firmware list. I also believe that they have to be processed in order. Many thanks

Reach back out to Phil; he'll send you instructions.

To DIY.  Start here:  https://www.naimaudio.com/updates

Download the 1.6d update first; it's on that page.

What you end up downloading is a zip file than when unzipped contains the user instructions in a pdf file and a "disk image" .iso file which is essentially what needs to be on a cd that you'll end up inserting into your UServe to update it.  You will need to "burn" that disk image .iso file onto a blank cd using appropriate software to made a cd that your UServe can read.  There are some instructions in a pdf file within that 1.6d download.  If you can make a cd, this will be easy.  If you can't, you'll need to; you'll need someone to help.

You'll then repeat all the way up to the current 1.7b format

Thanks very much for your help Bart. Much appreciated.

There have been a number of posts recently with this issue, which might be the reason Phil has run out of update discs! Updating to 1.7b should help, but some people have still reported metadata issues with some CDs after updating. It seems that the online lookup services in use are not what they used to be.

As Chris says, but 1.7b adds MusicBrainz which is much better than nothing, so it's worth the bother.
