CD5 fuse?

Posted by: Bob the Builder on 23 June 2018

I went to pick up my new (to me) 102/180 amp today and the very kind seller gifted me a CD5 player that no longer powers up.  The first thing I tried was connecting it up to a spare 3rd party psu I have but still no pwer. Looking at the fuse next to the mains inlet shows it to be blown unfortunately the spare is no longer there and so I need to order a new one as a first step before looking at sending off to be looked at.

Does anyone know the exact fuse needed?

As an aside the serial number of the CD5 black box is 1761** and the serials numbers of the Olive 102/180 are 175** for the 102 and 1761** so the black box cd5 and Olive 180 are made within a few weeks of one another so the 180 could be one of the last models made.

The 5 series was introduced in 2000 (replacing the slimline Olive 3 series), with the main Olive range not being officially discontinued until 2002, although some models were still being produced in the first few months of 2003.

Your items are all 2001.

OK that makes sense and it still makes this 102/180 very late models which makes me happy

CD5 needs to be plugged into the mains irrespective of whether a seperate power supply is used.

The fuse rating is printed next to the IEC inlet.  Is it 230V or 115V? (fuse rating is different depending upon which it is)

200 - 240 Vots T 1 A Fuse a quick google says it is a slow blow glass fuse.

Yes Christopher I did from Tom Tom Audio and then promptly forgot about it until last night and yes it got power into the unit but it made a loud vibrating noise and with the door open the little laser eye was also vibrating so I turned it straight off and have not plugged it back in since!

I'm considering wether or not to have it looked at because as it was a freebie  it stands me in nothing so I may go down that route or may just sell it on as is.

Thanks. I enjoyed my one-time CD5 so I will be interested in the forum's collective view on this one. Though yours is the only one that matters.
