App Search function does not allow to search on UPnP server for Nova/Star/Atom ?

Hello,

Having the same issue as Patrick74200 in April ("no new replies are permitted", so I start again):

The search function on the Naim app (indicated by the magnificying glass top right) when running my Nova does not search on the UPnP server, it only allows to search "local music". Not sure how Naim defines "local music", but anyway, I can't search my music stored on my Synology NAS for my Nova.

However, I can search music on the same Synology NAS & UPnP for my NAC-N 272! This was also concluded in the earlier Topic :  Patrick74200 could not search music for his Uniti Star, whereas Mike-B can happily search music for his 272.

So: how can we search music using the Naim app, stored on a NAS with its UPnP server, for the Nova/Star/Atom?

Interested to hear if other Nova/Star/Atom users can reach their UPnP server, as I can only reach "local music" when clicking the magnifying glass.

Software details: iOS Naim App version 5.10,   Nova Firmware/System version 2.6.1.9794, Nova OS version: 2.6.2314. Synology NAS DS118, Synology DSM firmware 6.2

No, I can't find my UPnP through the Naim app. I have an Atom and a Muso. My solution is an expensive 1 TB USB stick with all ripped CDs and other files plugged into my router.

Thanks Bjarne.... I think it is a flaw /bug in the app, because I can find all my music on the same UPnP when operating my 272 with the same iPad&app! A shame that you need to buy USB sticks if your music is already stored on a NAS.

My list of issues with the Nova/Star/Atom range is growing:

1. We cannot search on the app on our UPnP server (the app only sees "local music" whatever that is), whereas the same app can find the same UPnP server when running my 272....

2. Naim gives us only 30 seconds to see the time indication (pressed via the remote)  after which it reverses back to the album art..... Why? What if we like that clock with its nice font?

3. Can we access our UPnP through the remote control? No, UPnP control is only available via the app....  I would like to scroll through my music library with my nice new Nova Remote Control, as I used to do on my 272.... Could Naim allow its customers do so please?

4. Can we turn off the album art display? No we can't...

5. When playing music from UPnP via the app the cover-art ( CD cover) gets fully displayed. We can press a button to get a smaller cover art picture with song information displayed under it - all good. Howevever, when I operate the Nova by controlling the UPnP from my Windows PC with JRiver Media Centre, everything works fine, EXCEPT for the cover art: The Coverart only gets displayed in the second mode: smaller picture with song information under it. When I press the remote button, I don't get the full picture. How can I get the coverart displayed in full size on the Nova, when operating it from another UPnP controller?

I'm puzzled as to what the higher level Naim philosophy behind this all is.....

Seriously you could do this using the remote?

To search within a UPnP server category such as Artist or Album within the IOS app, enter the category and drag downwards from the top of the list. A search bar will appear for you to type in.

This does seem like a slightly pointless search function to me! By the time you have navigated to that list, all you need is to remember your alphabet and you will find what you are looking for. A global search is more useful.

Completely agree, Chris, the current search function is pretty pointless. The only use I have found for it is searching within long lists of radio stations. For UPnP a global search function is long overdue.
