552 servicing

Good day all.

A very quick question on service intervals if I may. About 18 months ago I was lucky enough to be able to purchase a pre loved 2009 552, which also had the added benefit of having the DR upgrade done in 2014 (just the DR not serviced). Obviously the 552 is in 2 parts. I have read on this forum that for the pre 15 years is deemed about right for servicing? But the power supply would be about 10 years, would that be a correct benchmark. I’m just kind of wondering that as the World Cup is on now and as I’m sure that England will be going all the way to the finals, that maybe i should use this “ music downtime” to maybe get the PS serviced. Also (and please excuse my total ignorance on this next question) it appears the PS was DRed not the pre, is that all the DR is on the 552? Just the PS

I was told 15 years for 552 and 15 years for 552PS. If you doubt this, Naim will give you the definitive answer. A expect Richard can also.

I think only the ps needs the DR upgrade.

Yup, I concur, was told around 15 years on 500 series.

Is the service (recapping) performed on both, the PS and Head unit?

The recapping is only the PS but I think you should send both boxes back for the service with the burndy and other cable so they can all be checked over together as the service is more than just recapping.
